Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand

Hi all

It will be the first time in Hua Hin so early in the season, just wondering what to expect weather wise.

Just will would a typical October day have in store, will it be beach watching bikinis or bar watching G&T?

October has frequently been the wettest month over the eight years I've been here... at least it seems like that. September can also be wet but the rains seem quicker. I seem to remember some entire days (or weeks) of rain in past Octobers.

Guess things are back to normal as the web site is now showing temperature as 39 degrees. HuaHin must be about to go into in record books for largest temperature range if what is posted on this site is true.. Wish I was there!

I've read reports from the press online that say this is the rainiest it has been in Thailand for 30 years.

I'm new to Hua Hin -- only moved here in March, so this is my first summer here -- but is Hua Hin an exception to that "rainiest in 30 years" statistic? Or, are these not-even-daily 10-15 minute showers the rainiest it has been in 30 years?

I lived four years in Bangkok and six years in Jomtien, and ISTR that there were more storms and other lengthy downpours in both those locations than I've experienced here this summer in Hua Hin.

That's normal for Hua Hin. This is the driest area in Thailand... usually only short showers from mid April to end of October, but October, as I stated before was the one month where I seem to remember whole days of rain.

Okay, it's officially October now. Let's have the rains! And, hopefully, some cooler weather afterward?

This is scary not only in regards to the fact that the water will need to be released eventually and will cause more flooding, but also that these dams could fail and cause a massive catastrophe. Full story at link below. Pete
