Just started watching second SERIES of Downton Abbey. I have never watched anything like this before and both me and the wife are enjoying it. I recommend more Thais to watch and see what England was like 100 years ago.
I was also interested to follow up Big Boys thought on popularity and ratings:

BBC spy drama Spooks was beaten by Downton Abbey in the battle for Sunday night's ratings, with twice as many people watching the ITV1 period drama.

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

I hardly watch TV here in LOS, and when I do its 99% of the time spent on History, Nat Geo and the three Discovery channels. I hate the way True use edited programming and film.
I download most series I watch so they are uncensored.

Re; Boardwalk Empire. I've seen it up to the episode that ends with his original partner ( rich old man, grey hair), the old man's illegit son who is Buscemi's gunman, and his police chief brother, who are plotting together to overthrow him. Is that the end of Series 1 or is there more? Pete

The last episode in series 1 ends with Nucky and his Irish missus walking on the boardwalk watching fireworks go off after she decides to stick with him. Episode 12:
Nucky faces Election Day in Atlantic City and pulls out all the stops to keep power in Republican hands. Torrio brokers a discussion between Nucky and Rothstein to resolve their growing gang war, as well as Rothstein's looming federal indictment over the World Series. Both Jimmy and Eli voice their growing resentment towards Nucky, and find they have an ally in the equally embittered Commodore. Van Alden seeks a sign on whether or not to leave Atlantic City, but receives unexpected news from Lucy. Margaret weighs new information about Nucky's first marriage and her uncertain future to make a final decision on her role in his life.
Anyways...on the same historical theme....
One to keep an eye out for on PBS and so will be online
Ken Burns, the documnentary master behind the shining glory of documentary makiing that is the seminal THE CIVIL WAR (about the US Civil War based on Shelby Foote's classic three volume narrative history book) has made a new documentary series called PROHIBITION about the mad period and its devastating effects on US society, includng settng the foundations of the modern crime gangs/mafias, and to looks to be another classic corker.
I'll keep an eye out for links and flag them when I find em. PBS sometimes allow direct downloading of series from their site....somehow I doubt they will wth this as the DVD market for Ken's work is massive. Still, I heartly recc checking out the PBS site...everything from documentary series to Shakespeare and plays. Their stuff is usually pretty easy to find for download.
three cheers for PBS
"Science flew men to the moon. Religion flew men into buildings."
New sci fi series doing the rounds on US TV at the mo. Its about a bunch of colonists who use a time travel rip to travel back to the Jurrassic to escape a polluted hellhole future Earth. Sort of Lost meets Jurassic Park. Lots of dinos and laser gun fun.
Episodes 1 & 2 are about for download at all the usual places

Terra Nova starts later this month on one of the TrueVisions Platinum channels, FOX, I think.
Also, started tonight (repeats 5 or 6 times a week) is a new Steven Spielberg series starring Noah Wiley (of ER fame) and a host of other talented and well known actors called "Falling Skies".
Aliens have taken over earth and the resistance and what's left of the population are fighting and trying to survive. I watched tonight's 90 minute premier and it was probably the best Sci Fi alien series I've seen... movie quality, thanks to Mr. Spielberg.
It's on the Platinum package on AXN Beyond. I'm sure Sandman can find it for download for the rest of you.
