I think you over analyze sometimes Pete.

A wealthy British young lady overdosed. No conspiracy.

Maybe some people can't handle the talent, and gifts, they've been given.

I enjoy her music

Good luck to the lady wherever she is now, but this has to be the least surprising news of the decade. If there's an inexhaustible supply of sympathy Amy's welcome to a whole heap of it, but if it's rationed out, then I'll save mine for her family and for Norway.

It's strange that we somehow didn't criticise Janis Joplin - Judy Garland - even Liz Taylor - in the same way that we do Amy Winehouse. But IMO Amy W had the potential to become a huge star, and the way she ended up is a sad loss.

Does Guinness have a record category for Least Surprising Drug Overdose Death of a Pop Star?

Kurt Cobain doesn't belong in the same category as the other musicians mentioned. The others overdosed. He suffered from chronic pain for many years before choosing to end it.

I think its really sad, great talent as all of the other names mentioned. I guess these people who have streaks of genius are flawed in other ways.

I think that comment is just shit really and it shows that you have never been in/encountered/known poeple who have had a drug abuse problem. It's called an addiction.

A more appropriate way of saying things would be
If you are one of those unfotunate, weak willed souls who endure an on going battle to try to end the self-destructive life that you were introduced to by someone else then don't be surprised if you end up dead.

Its a cying shame but then again Im left with the words "Silly cow" echoing round my head...and I feel the same about Hendrix, Joplin, Moon, Morrison and all the rest.

I hate to quote from the Bible, but this seems appropriate:

For what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world, but in doing so looses his own soul?

Its just a damn crying shame

Sadly, she didn't let it work.

We now know treatment is not a moving rehab train that you can jump on board for a few days to dry out then jump off at the first junction to climb back onto the party train. Gotta stay on the rehab train for the full ride. She kept jumping on and off.

Addiction is now considered a chronic disease that affects the brain. For addiction treatment to succeed, the addict needs to commit to a treatment program for, typically, 4-6 weeks, and probably more, and then stick with a recovery program and a supportive environment.

I loved her music, still do. RIP.

Rupert Murdoch has announced today that he is funding "The Amy Winehouse Music Studies Award" to fully fund the advanced musical education of one promising young artist each year.

Apparently, he was deeply moved by all the messages of condolence and support left on Amy Winehouse's voicemail.

GLC...

I have mate, for example my ex wife was an alcoholic, and I feel entirely justified sticking the boot in on Amy Winehouse. She had it all...talent, money and fame. She pissed all that up the wall on booze, coke and smack. She surrounded herself with the usual suspect crowd of sycophants, dealers and smack heads...and she paid the price. The only tradgedy here is that nobody took her by the scruff of her neck and gave her a damn hard shaking.....but she constructed walls of slimeballs to ensure that never happened.

Addicts dont need symapthy and hugs...they need tough love and a damn good kicking.

Hendrix, Moon, Joplin, Morrison, Lynot all did the same, and all ended up the same. They are not characters in a Shakespearian tradgedy....they are all f*ck ups.

Richards, Tyler, and the other survivors woke the hell up, stopped with the poor me cack and survived. Thats how you do it.

And if I sound bitter then maybe its because I would walk over a mile of broken glass for the opportunities she wasted, and Im damn sick of reading the bleeding heart mea culpa cack in the same press that one month ago were ripping on her for staggering around on stage stoned and drunk out of her skull on a tour that had to be cancelled because she was a f*ck up.
