Singer Amy Winehouse, 27, has been found dead at her home, the Press Association has reported.

Last month, the north Londoner pulled out of her European tour after she was jeered at her comeback gig in Serbia for appearing too drunk to perform.

For 90 minutes, she mumbled through parts of songs and at times left the stage - leaving her band to fill in.

The troubled singer had a long battle with drink and drugs which overshadowed her musical career in recent years.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed that a 27-year-old woman had died in Camden and that the cause of death was as yet unexplained.

London Ambulance Service had been called to the flat at 1554 BST and sent two ambulances but the woman died, it said.

Don't want to sound negative etc, but that could be applied to millions actually, and many don't push the red button, some do though.

Hell, there was a time when I was a young reckless dude at 18 and did all of this and more, but got hold of it and decided it wasn't the right way forward if living is on the agenda, hence gave it up a long time ago, well, ridiculous consumption of such stuff, still drink though.

Guess vanity and delusions of grandeur plus money in excess doesn't help these type of people, most of these so-called 'stars' these days are hardly a picture of mental stability and a good example of continuity and values............not! Maybe they all think that doing a Jimi Hendrix will immortalise themselves or make them appear misunderstood/mysterious . Many have done the same with little regard for anything as if a tortured personal life is to be fashionable/mysterious/admired etc.

It'll be interesting to see what the cops release as 'cause of death', maybe she's done a 'Heath Ledger' in a hotel room with a bunch of pills.

Nice positive post SF. The girl was obviously troubled which ironically made her the success she was.

She was an undoubted talent, 5 Grammy awards by the age of 25.

It'll be someone else with a tortured soul next month, just depends how famous they are that will dictate whether we hear about it or not.

Let's not appear shocked like Julie Andrews in 'The Sound of Music' style here as there will be another soon, these lot can't resist themselves when it comes to dramatic conclusions.

I know little of her music, but she had an amazing voice.

Her appearance, when younger, was healthy and wholesome, but she met and mixed with the wrong folk and the result was self-evident.

Music awards only reflect the current popularity of various artists and are ultimately meaningless. After Kathy Kirby died recently, I checked our her live appearance at an NME awards ceremony from the sixties, when she was a big star and where she sang 2 songs and her voice (and looks) bowled me over - but who can really recall any of her songs now?

Sadly, only time will will be the arbiter of Amy Winehouse. But very sad news that anyone so young should self-destruct.

Those that lost their lives yesterday will never get the chance.

May they all RIP.

They were all there for our entertainment and had their kicks before the whole shithouse went up in flames.
