You might have to sit through a video for an hour to refresh your driving skills? Seems this is now the requirement for 2nd 5 year renewal.

As a colour blind person  I am surprised about Thailand applying this colour test. Is this colour blindness test using the official Ishihara books, the ones with bubble charts? As one of the 10% of farangs with this deficiency I am keen to know if has anyone experienced a problem in getting a license or is a retirement fund contribution required?

Barry, thanks again! You (and your girlfriend) are a wealth of information! Beers on me next time we meet.

Moja, OMG! Please tell me you are joking... I can't imagine sitting through an hour of a Thai language driving instruction movie. I wonder if I can sneak in a flask of scotch?
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Sorry not joking we were told all about it when we renewed our licenses a couple of months ago but that was in Cha'am so you might be lucky in Pranburi. You never know it might help us all to understand Thai driving then we too can drive in the same way!!! :D :D

Well, you must have a different licence to mine!

The original, 1 year licence used to show your address, the current electronically produced plastic card does not. :?

Mine was issued 02 march this year and our address is on the back. It is a five year license issued in Cha'am. It is written in Thai but I can read the house number so I know it is our address.

Like I said, it must be different to mine. I have a 5 year a couple of years old, issued in Bangkok.
It has my passport number, date of birth, date of issue and expiry. Nothing on the back.

edit: is yours a plastic credit card type?

Yes mine is a plastic credit card type and has the same info on front as yours and our address on the back. So it seems in answer to your question SJ yes if you get your license in Cha'am - sorry cannot help when it comes to Pranburi but as a non-Thai you can go to either license center

I have the 5 year plastic ID card one for the car and a 1 year plastic one for the bike and both have my address on the back.

I believe all driving licences issued in Thailand show an address - unless you are an Aussie perhaps :?

Quite right. When they asked for my address I told them to mind their own damn business.

So what you believe is not necessarily true. I will check my Thai daughters licence a bit later and see what that has on it.

We are in Bangkok at moment and just checked with a few Thais and they all have the address on the back of their licenses! Are you sure you did not get yours in Khao San Road?
