Anyone have any idea about getting info for short term stay in Thailand (1 to 4 months a year) for any farang? Can the visa be renewed for repetitive years? Thx

With effect from 06 December 2008 any person eligible to enter Thailand under the “Visa Exemption Rule” will be granted a maximum stay of 30 days only if entering Thailand via an international airport. Persons entering Thailand through a land border checkpoint from a neighbouring country will be granted a maximum stay of just 15 days
TOURIST VISA
Tourist Visas are available with one, two or three entries. The one (1) entry visa has a validity of three months from date of issue. The two (2) and three (3) entry visas have a validity of six months from date of issue. On arrival in Thailand with a valid Tourist Visa nationals of the following countries are entitled to remain in Thailand for up to 60 days with each entry:

As I've replied to your other query, a Non Imm O visa can be got as long as you qualify - generally granted if you're you're over 50 or married to a Thai. That will give you 90 days on arrival and be can extended annually here in Thailand, again as long as you qualify. If you get a re-entry permit (either single or multiple entry variey) to go with your annual extension you can exit and enter Thailand as many times as you want during the validity of your extension without invalidating that extension.
From what you've said in other posts, this would seem that best option for you.
