Identify this vegetable?

Can anyone identify this vegetable I saw at Villa Market? I took a photo just because I liked the look, but it's identity is starting to bug me.

It does look like Bok choy or that sort of family. I love it added to Stir fry dishes. I will ask my Thai neighbour. The type I have bought has more of an open leaf, but this could be very fresh before it opens. Have a look...they all look different!

I'm not certain, but they look like unopened lotus plants.
If so, I've had them before and they're quite tasty.

A neighbor also isn't certain also thinks they're unopened lotus plants. I'll buy some if and when I see them again to verify the tasty part. Ohhhhh ..... baby greens.

That seems about right - the female flower to be precise. But I don't really know, I was just intrigued!

My missus said that looking at the photo Caller send it is squash. She couldn't say if they were the same as in the original photo.

The chef coming out in me now Actually think they are courgette or aslo known as zucchini flowers .To cook them you can either stuff them with something like fetta cheese and then you egg wash them and cover in bread crumbs and deep fry

Although they do look like similar to the flower on a female courgette, I am fairly certain they they are not - they just dont appear to have the "flower" element that is getting ready to burst open. I am also fairly certain that they are not bok choy either, but whether or not they are the head of a lotus plant, I dont know - lets hope that one of our members with a Thai wife/gf will be able to help?

Wife says it is this: ดอกกระเจี๊ยบ. Roughly translated as 'dogajeap'. Google translate has the English name as: 'Roselle'. Description is a weak medium size tree that also has red fruit a bit bigger than grape size that they make juice from also. What you see in the photo above are the flowers from the tree that later turn red. Pete
