Re: The Digital Surgery
Its not even worth attempting to diagnose problems with IE because its such a flawed piece of software. Use Firefox.

Re: The Digital Surgery
That's precisely the problem - I'm not using IE..... the bugger simply opens by itself for some reason, which is getting beyond annoying. MF is set as my default browser.buksida wrote:Its not even worth attempting to diagnose problems with IE because its such a flawed piece of software. Use Firefox.

Ok, go to Start > Run > and type 'msconfig'
When that pops up go to the startup tab and post a list of what is in it - it is likely another program is trying to open IE when the machine starts.

Re: The Digital Surgery
Ok, I would turn off the following, reboot and see if it happens again:
Adobe Acrobat
Adobe Reader
Quicktime
Memeo Dash
Babylon Tool
DivX Update
ClickPotato
GoogleToolbar
Microsoft Office
If it doesn't solve it at least your computer will be faster.
Also download, install, update and run a full scan with www.malwarebytes.org

Re: The Digital Surgery
I removed IE from my system with "add/remove Windows components". got back lots of disk space and don't have to be bothered with programs starting it any more.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Re: The Digital Surgery
May just try that HHF - I guess the reason I have not done it is that I have in the back of my mind some sites can only be browsed using IE...... although I must admit that I've not come across this issue in quite a while. Has MF got over this problem somehow?hhfarang wrote:I removed IE from my system with "add/remove Windows components". got back lots of disk space and don't have to be bothered with programs starting it any more.

Re: The Digital Surgery
If you do run across a site that requires IE (I haven't in many months now), there is a FireFox addon that will accommodate that, though I haven't tried it with FireFox 4 yet. Also, I guess it requires IE to be resident on your system. I also haven't tried it since I completely removed IE, but at least if you run across a site that doesn't display or work properly in FireFox you can use the addon.
Here's an explanation of it:

Re: The Digital Surgery
If I understand correctly, you are using Win7 on a computer with only 1GB RAM? If so, I'm surprised you can get any work done. A practical minimum is 2GB RAM. Win7 really likes 4GB.
For basic computing, like browsing web sites, occasional word processing or spreadsheet work, and light photo retouching, your 3Mhz processor is probably enough, but I would highly recommend at least one more GB of RAM.

Re: The Digital Surgery
Just a quick one here, using Windows 7, have got KM Player and Best Media player but can't seem to get them to play a selection of songs from folder in 'My music', KM Player just plays the first one and won't go on to the others even if you select 'play selection' and Best media player plays them all at once.
It's probably obvious, but what's up with that?

Re: The Digital Surgery
Don't use either but they may require you to import all of your music to a library or create play lists as other media players do. I always use Winamp for music as it is simple and doesn't misbehave.
