We used to run tours on both Kaeng Krachaen and Pranburi Dams.ste860 wrote:............if your on about kreang kacachan dam ,terry used to fish their with his boat so ask him about that, ive only fished there off the banks...........
It was not commercially viable in terms tying up two members of staff, my truck all day as well as the boat.
I did not feel that it was justifiable to charge customers when the fishing is basically non existant in terms of customer expectancy.
We now only use the boat for the occasional pleasure trip or if a customer specifcally asks for a trip.
When you go out on a boat on these dams they are beautiful but due to overfishing, catches are few and far between. You will find nets everywhere. There are big snakehead but you have to be lucky to locate them and I would say that to get ANY fish over 1 kilo or two you have about a 5% chance max. We've made 30 or so trips and only got 2 fish worthy of note.
There are plenty of Nin and some Krasoop (Jungle Perch) available from the shores but again not very large - ok to make tom yum, but not much else.
