Where are the best places to fish from in and around HH ie piers, rocky outcrops etc and what gets caught that is a good eater.

I'll stand corrected but I don't think you're likely to catch much in HH. Years ago I went out boat fishing off HH beach a couple of times and other then some stingrays biting that couldn't be brought up on our tackle, there really wasn't much else and certainly nothing was worth keeping.
Barry from Mermaid Cruises (see sponsor link on the right hand side of this page) will know more and you're likely to have more chance of some decent fish south of HH which is where he's based.

I'll be watching for replies, because I really miss my fishing. In South African I would be out fishing from the rocks or in the surf almost every weekend - nothing like it. :thumb:

Hi nij400. I too am looking for some shore fishing in the area. I will be around in may complete with tackle and lures. Looking for a spot of preditor action, will I find any ? I will follow your posting with interest, maybe we can get together for a spot of prospecting.

when i first came here i used to fish the coasts everyday from cha-am to dolphin bay
and i only ever caught about half a dozen fish that you could say were decent size
it dawned on me that i was wasteing my time hundreds of fish 75 mm or less ,the thais take everything home never release small fish back.the fishing boats also use a micro net which takes everything in thier path.

so the only good fishing in hua hin is at the ponds that charge you to fish like the fishing lodge some good sport in there.or to go out on a boat equipped for fishing but you will have to go quite far out and still may not get a decent fish

This is a pretty accurate summary.
In the six years we've been running boat tours here, the biggest fish we ever caught was a 5 pound Sweetlip.

My staff sometimes fish off our pier and there are fish there later in the evening, but I've only see them catch Catfish and the odd Seabass (no more than about 1 1/5 kg).

We catched stringrays (arround 1-2Kg) and some other nice fishes 1-2Kg each. I have thai friends who go out on their boats and catchs nice barracudas and some small sharks but nothing really big.

Maybe Barrys has one of those fish shoal radars on one of his boats and can enlighten us on whether there are any shoals etc of fish around HH, or whether it's even worth it.

one of the few places you will/might catch a decent fish is over a reef ,only because the fishing boats cant drag there nets there because they will snag, but as both me and Barry said if you go fishing everyday you will only catch a decent/good size fish 3 or 4 days a month , it all depends on the currents etc ,most time unless your using braid with a wire trace it will snag a rock and snap you , i have fished here for over 4 years at least 2/3 time a week of boats and can not be bothered trying now the big fish are not here unless you go really far out and then its a 24 hour trip

editted forget to spell check

ste860, please, do you have the GPS location on where i can catch decent fishes with a 23 foot speed boat ? Or a Google Map link.

I'm really tired of the small fishes i'm catching everyday.

Thanks.

I've had boats on, and off, over the last 30 years and love them. Sometimes fishing gets in the way
