Been riding the roads around HH since 1987, never had a problem, except the Soi dogs, but I have figured that one out.
Dozer - What's the secret then?
I raised this one a long time ago on this forum and could never get a good reliable way of avoiding the critters.
I'm a dog lover (Got 10 of my own at the Lodge), but the soi dogs really wreck my attempts at an early morning ride

Best form of defence is attack, but as you are a dog lover I don’t think you would appreciate my tactics, but I can say it does involve a water pistol of sorts…….
Dozer
What sort of water pistol - I tried that but was ineffective.
Yes I am a dog lover, but only with my own pets who are well looked after family friends as well as being guard dogs at night.
As for the soi dogs - they are a bloody menace.

I use a stainless steel container which I keep in one of my water bottle holders and the contents are a mixture of toxic liquids, which on contact certainly have the required effect.

Atheists have no need of a god. Our lives are not based on fear or guilt. We are moral because we know it's right.

We, as a family, are going to give cycling a go on our next trip for transport to the market and beach etc. I used to do a bit of jogging and found that carrying a stick was good for soi dogs - usually you only have to raise it and they back off as they know what's coming. I'm going to try the same thing with the bike.

Hua Hin Bike Tours (google for website), decent maintained bikes but you pay more.

Paul, we have no problem with you promoting a non-profit group that enjoys cycling however and having that web link in your signature however if you wish to market a business here you'll need to consider advertising. One of our low cost 'HHADvertorials' should suit you, it is only fair to the others as 'self-promotion' is strictly forbidden.
Yes i am certainly one of the nutters about 40/45 kms a day average out tommorrow hospital for 6 days and laid up for about 2 weeks then i will be back at it hopefully on my brand new TREK SMOKIN
If the weather stayed like this I'd get a bike and start riding again!
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
