Kids Bikes

Post by BaaBaa. »

Where can I get a decent kids bike with stabilisers (He's 3 in March) I'm hoping that Tesco isn't the best that Hua Hin has to offer. Price?

At that age Baa it doesn't make much difference as it's going to get beat up, and for sure makes no sense to go expensive. Tesco has a variety of prices but if I recall a basic starter 12" wheel with training wheels starts at less than 2,000. By the time he hits 5 it will be time for a new, larger one anyway.

I found it's good to set the training wheels about 1/2 inch higher than the main wheel. In this way he'll find himself beginning to balance on the main wheel rather than all three touching the ground at the same time. They then amaze themselves that they can do it when time to transition to one without stablisers. :D Pete

I'm fairly sure we bought my grand daughter's bike at the Old Hua Hin Shopping Mall.

I have also found it an advantage to have an extension handle that protrudes up above and behind he seat. You can then walk along behind the little one and "guide" the bike a bit and stop it from falling all the way over. Not all trainer bikes have them.

Got ours in the shop on Petchkasem that usual suspect suggested, plenty of choice in there. Got a nice solid little silver bike for 2,500 for our first's 5th birthday, he's off the stabilizers now and flying around all over the place.

Somtawin is at the end of soi 51.

There are three bike shops along that stretch of Petchkasem I think. Coming from north one real specialist place that I was in today is just before the PTT station, they have some real expensive bikes and are for proper cyclists! The other one which has more kids bikes is closer to town almost opposite Kasikorn Bank. I think the third that u.s. mentioned is just past soi 51 almost opposite Somtawin.
