There hasn't been reported a single case of a honemoon couple that was kidnapped in Indonesia and I actually don't remember any kidnapping of a bule (farang) in Indonesia.

I also seriously doubt that there has ever been a spider attack on a honeymoon couple and I think you can count spider-acidents with touists with one hand.

Flogging a dead horse if he is judging by the report of 8 killed in an Indonesian bus hijacking. Seems a sacked policeman was protesting and trying to get re-instated!

That was in Manila in the Philippines though !!

There were of course those Bali bombings. Bali likes to promote itself independently of the Indonesia association

I spent some time in Sulawesi some years ago and at that time there were very few tourists going there.
I was in the South in what used to be called Ujung Pandang and it was unusual to see more than five Westerners in a week at that time, although I believe more went to the North for diving.
In those times there was a bit of trouble there, as there was in much of Indonesia following the fall of Soeharto, including a bomb in the main shopping mall in Ujung Pandang but it may have changed since then.
It's an interesting place to visit anyway.
