Buy house and rent it out by day or week?

In other countries, you can have a house or apt. that you rent out to others and clean when they go, like you were running your own little hotel business.

I had trouble finding this service even in Bangkok, though. Does anybody do this in Hua Hin, or least least rent out seasonally and *not,* say 1-year leases to tenants? If not, anybody know why not?

2) Many owners do not like short-term rentals because of the extra admin costs and there is more wear and tear on the house.

I certainly have seen some advertised here in Hua-Hin, but the daily rent amount is usually absurd. I also know that this sort of arrangement is quite popular with the Thai coming down from Bangkok. Quite often a large group will come down and then simply rent a house for a few days and split the rent between themselves as it works out cheaper than paying for several hotel rooms. One Thai women I've known for years often comes down here with a large group of friends and family and they almost always rent a house on the beach towards Takiap. I think they pay about 3 or 4 thousand baht per night, but then again, there are usually at least 20 people in the group.

I can never understand it though, as her and her husband have a huge 10 million baht house in Kao Grulok (spelling) and it's righ on the beach. She and her family & friends do use the place sometimes but not very often, while her husband has never even spent a single night there as he refuses to travel down from Bangkok by road.....sheer madness. Of course that could also be an excuse on his part, because when they're all down here, he's left to his own devices in Bangkok...

I think Room by Room may provide that service (try to find a rental client when you are not here and clean after they leave) for you (for a fee or commission).
