Mick Jones, Allan Clarke, Paul Madeley, David Harvey, Gary Sprake, Jackie Charlton, Norman Hunter (bites your legs).Peter Lorimer, Mick Bates, Johnny Giles, Billy Bremner, Eddie Gray, Paul Reaney. (1972)

What superstars
It's funny, I went out for lunch and while eating I was just trying to remember the missing three! Of course I eventually remembered Jackie Charlton (Duh! :banghead: ) and came up with Cooper at left back, but I still couldn't remember the right back though. Even though I misspelled a few names, I remember them playing in that lineup against FTC in Hungary, I just can't recall what year was that. Regradless, it was a hell of a team!

Just what I thought, our luck finally ran out. We scored a lucky goal against England, we got lucky to get a tie against Slovenia and we scored a lucky goal in the 93rd minute against Algeria. We were extremely lucky to finish first in our group. Ghana totally outplayed us to give a wake up call to the dreamers who are blaming everything on the coach now! The truth is, it's not the coach, the USA is good enough to advance from the regionals to the World Cup, but simply is not good enough to go any further there. Hats off to the South Americans, all of their teams advanced from the group stages.

IMHO you were very unlucky to only draw against Slovenia. I've watched the USA's 3rd goal many times, and can't see why it was disallowed.

Reminders of 1966 and a goal for England.
Unbelievable that England's second was not awarded. Just unbelievable.
C'mon England for the second half.

Wore my red England shirt out to dine tonight but at the last minute decided to go and watch in the condo and not a bar. Thought occurred to me that I might have to go home half naked :(

Got up and turned the tv on (I work nights) and it was 2-1 Germany. Had a shower and then saw that it was 4-1. Turned over to watch Glastonbury instead...

Well, any arguement for England's "non-goal" is certainly moot now...... :(

Pretty much outclassed overall despite a couple of (short) exciting periods from England. Can't see what the hell the fuss is about Rooney - can't see why the hell he was on the pitch :? . Gerrard not too much better IMHO.

All in all pretty sh*tty World Cup for the Lillywhites..... 1 good display? :(

Just as England were starting to come out of their shells, that decision condemed England to all out attack and being picked off by the counter attack.

At least the referee maintained the 100% record of England never winning with a Uraguayan referee :?
