Girly questions - is it safe..

Post by Cat Woman »

...to ask them in this section?

It seems the most family friendly. I want to ask for recommendations for girly stuff like hairdressers, spa etc but this seems to be a male dominated forum and I don't want to get shot down - I am only new.. Are there any ladies viewing this section who may be able to share their favourite places?

(bet this topic gets alot more views than answers!)

Take a look at this thread which gives an indication of the other women who frequent the board as they made most of the replies. I'm sure some will surface to help with your questions. Pete

Aaah - hairdressers in HH. A constant source of anguish to be honest CW. During my 5 plus years there I stuck to a very low maintenance long straight no frills approach, and found a hairdresser on Naebkerhardt Rd who could be trusted to just trim in a reasonably straight manner around the ends, without scalping me!
To be honest constant washing and drying means that you probably won't want to faff with anything fancy - and need to be able to tie your hair up anyway when it's very hot.
If you look at most Thai ladies they have very straight long hair - so hairdressers don't need to be particularly good at layering - or anything else for that matter!. Nor do they do 'farang' colouring.
There are of course some good hairdressers in Bangkok - Toni and Guy are there - at a price.
But to me the main advantage of HH hairdressers is their attention to shampooing very well. Most will do a very good scalp massage while shampooing, and at a fraction of the price you would expect to pay in the UK.
Last trip 18 months ago I found a salon out on Chomsin, near to Bamboo Grove Bar, where a good 'shampoo vitamin and puff puff' was just 100 baht. There are many such places, and you never need an appointment.
They all do manicures as well - but watch out for over zealous cutting down the sides of your nails. Same goes for toes.
A sprout is for life - not just for Christmas.

After trying many hairdressers in HH I have given in and gone back to my hairdresser in BKK; she does at least have an idea of how to style. Last time someone in HH tried to style my hair I ended up with one side much shorter than the other - no it was not intentional.

The place I use in BKK is actually cheaper than a lot of the hairdressers in HH.

I am sure there are many good hairdresser in town I have just not been able to find one.

As for spas, nails etc there are many manyplaces around town and it is just a case of finding one that suits you depending on how much you want to pay. I use Thai Orchid just by Megabooks

Hi,
For hairdressers Chic are very good, on the main road opposite Victoria's restaurant. It really depends where you are in Hua Hin, I have a good one in soi 102 but if you are at the other end of town it is a long way to come.
There arent many of us girls on the forum really but on the whole we are a friendly lot so feel free to ask any questions :)

Cat Woman :D

The wife used to use the hairdressers on Petchkasem road (the one with all the fishponds inside) opposite soi 41.
I think it was called August or something!

She reckons it is a good place for both girls and boys to have their hair done. I have used them in the past but found a little gents barbers behind Starbucks, more suited to my needs.

Great to see more ladies joining the forum.

At the first set of traffic lights on the main road where the police box is turn left into the street agancent to the police box. Half way down the soi on your right is a hairdressers next to a fishing tackle shop and opposite a barber on the other side of the road.

I use them, as do a hell of a lot of Thai lasses and some farangs.

They have a load of awards on the wall if that means anything :?

Always done a good job on me.... but Im a bloke so its easy. Mrs S likes them ....

Glad you're pleased with your hi-lights Sarnie.

I had some done in Hua Hin, and loved them. Moved down to Nakhon Pathom and had blocks of blonde, a disinterested hairdresser, and a pretty gruesome experience.

Ho hum... I'll just have to shop around until I can find one I can trust.

I still go back to my favourite hairdressers opposite All-in Hua Hin when I'm in town, but our infrequent visits mean that I have to find someone I can trust here. The one thing that intrigues me is the technique. In the UK they'd use a cap and pull through the hair, so as to get an even colour. Weaving the pointy edge of a comb, whilst chatting to your mates, then slopping on some dubious solution doesn't quite have the same effect...

The below is more of a Hi-So article but it mentions a new hair salon for the rich and famous in Hua Hin. You girls may want to try it out. Sorry, no reference to address. Pete

I am a new member and will be moving to Hua Hin within the next couple of months. I would also like to know of a good hairdresser that uses L'Oreal products and know how to colour blonde hair? Am I presuming too much????
