Suits you sir

Post by Bucknaked »

hi all
ill be in HH in May for the first visit ever to Thailand after travelling everywhere else in the world except The land of smiles. I was wondering;
What are clothes like to buy over there, i.e. is it worth me taking a small amount of clothing from the UK and buying the rest over there? im talking about jeans/trainers/shorts and swimming stuff really. also, as i dont possess a digital camera and would like one, what are the prices like and are they readily available to get in HH

cheers

Bucknaked,
I visited Hua Hin for the first time in January and my experience is that you can buy the clothes you need in Hua Hin. I also bought a digital camera, but the price was similar to the price in Europe. Have a nice trip and pleasent stay. I was very satisfied.

Hello again, Bucknaked !

I don't now anything about iPod. That's too modern for a retired man like me.

Hi-tech goods tend to be cheaper in the UK than in Thailand, particularly Hua Hin, which is more expensive and has less choice than Bangkok.

I would buy the camera in the UK - you will probably get it cheaper, will be more likely to know what you're getting and can take it back to the shop easily if it has a problem.

You will also not waste any of your holiday time fannying about looking for a camera and working out how to use it.

Sunrises are over the ocean and sunsets over the mountains in Hua Hin - you have to get up somewhere high like Khao Hin Lek Fai to appreciate the sun setting behind the mountains

hi
as jamie said before i would recomend you electrical goods to be purchased at home at least your warrenty means somthing there
savings on electrical goods only really exhist in duty freee places like hong kong as for an ipod you wont get any value here only get a chance to get somthing before the uk gets it
clothes are a great saving i personaly wont wear copys and lacoste is the only brand i like in the bkk department stores with huge savings on uk price even buy my lacoste coates there
the copy clothes are as good a quality you will get any in the world and at great prices if this is what you want
as for tailored clothes i personaly cant speak about them you here good and bad storys on this one
shorts and sandles are priced right here both branded and non branded
and if youve tryd most countrys in the world allready you have certenly kept the best till last
enjoy your first of im sure many trips to los
cheers

There is no doubt that clothing can be good value here, however when I first arrived in Thailand, 2 years ago, I had a problem finding large size "off the peg" business attire. This was quickly fixed by a diet of fish and soups, which brought me within the general Thai clothing sizes. It also brought down my blood pressure and left me feeling healthier than I had for the previous 15 years. Needless to say I am still here and see no benefit in leaving Thailand.

If you can't find what you are looking for from HH, you can surely find anything in Bangkok! What comes to hi-tech, I doubt you can find newest things from HH, for example latest models of cellphones are hard to find from HH. From Bkk very easy.

I buy all my clothes in Hua Hin, except for jeans and shoes, the thai jeans are a different cut and its hard to find larger shoe sizes.
I have never seen ipods for sale in Thailand except in Bangkok, digital cameras are available, but you would get a better deal buying online in Europe.
