As we are equipped with some sort of electricity here in HH so I changed the headline a little bit.

Are you talking about a spare laptop battery or a UPS (surge protector)? Both can be bought or ordered in Hua Hin.

After dragging around Bangkok a couple of months ago, the best that I could do for my Acer Laptop was 3,000 Bht. There are cheaper ones around, but they are reconditioned, not new.

In Cambodia everyone uses ups's uninterpretable power supplys to keep their desktops going after a power outage but they last even longer with a laptop since the power drain on them is so much less. They also give you the added benefit of smoothing out any power spikes. We buy them for about 25-30$, not sure on the price in HH.

I recently replaced two laptop batteries in pantip Plaza. I paid 1800 baht each. They had a cheaper alternative using cheaper batteries but I went for the more expensive branded ones. The batteries are new as is the holder but they are not genuine. My daughter has used hers a lot and says the replacement battery is as good as the original. I think the same as ordinary torch type batterys usually the more expensive the better the life. Although a few years ago yhe UK was flooded with cheap look alike Duracel that did not last. Can't believe though that this could happen here :)
I have a UPS it was the largest available in the around 2k price mark. It keeps my PC,laptop and modem running for around 1/2 hour. This is usually enough although longer power outages do sometimes happen.

The lady (or interchangable bloke) in the little computer shop next to the shell Garage ordered a replacement Sony one for me from her contact in Bangkok. Took 2 days to arrive, cost 2000bht which is cheaper than going there myself to get it.

Take the battery in with you so they know which one, and if you are buying yourself then just avoid cheap Chinese OEM batteries - they can be hit and miss.

or you can try Ebay I suppose. Use a UK or US/Canadian "shop" supplier with good feedback tho.
