You will hear Mr A talk of reconciliation BUT with WHO the yellow shirts, his own party, the Elite, the rich. A fat lot of good that’s gonna do
I can hear you shouting Phua Thai yes he could but they are seen as toothless useless and certainly not in charge of the masses of the red shirts let alone the more militant even the red shirt leaders found themselves NOT in charge, so those talks will end in very little if anything. I would expect them not to even start as I am sure Phua Thai will INSIST on the red shirt leader MPs being there at the very least. Mr A and his boss have painted themselves into a very tight corner by arresting and holding the red shirt leadership (already seen as a double standard).
If Mr A tries to talk with the red shirt leaders he will be crucified by the puppet master, Chamlong, Sondhi and the yellow shirts.
Mr A cannot talk to Mr T because the above will apply in spades.
Mr A and his boss are probably relying on the Army Heellooo its split and if the watermelons turn? even deeper shit is down the pipe than I am predicting
There will be a month or two before the grenades, drive by shootings/assassinations and fire bombings start to ramp up as they have in the past only this time it will be everywhere not confined to BKK.
These are your own words Sarge...the parts I have coloured are important because Abhisit did in fact try to negotiate with the Red Leaders, NOT Puea Thai leaders. There were going to be elections in November and a dissolution in September and then you would have your DEMOCRATICALLY elected government. Why were the Reds not satisfied? because Thaksin would have been left out. Simple. The drive by's and all that have been happening already in Bangkok for the last couple of months, before the protests even started.
The UDD you support should be called the UNITED FRONT FOR DICTATORSHIP AGAINST DEMOCRACY.
for crying out loud what planet are you on Mr T won twice yellow shirts protested a coup de tat followed, called by the dictator, TRT PPP won again yellow shirts rioted rigged judges and PPP and Samak gone Rigged judges and yellow shirts and somchai gone
and you come up with the red shirts are sore loser for gods sake man get some grip on reality the sore losers are the elite/yellow shirts
An MP in Australia has been stood down for buying $2000 worth of BHP shares privately and making business deals and expecting kickbacks. This is Democracy. Your friend Thaksin did much more than this and the UDD propaganda rejects this and claims he was set up.
What planet am I from??? this is quite ironic since it is yourself, so called champion for Democracy that cannot see how hypocritical and outright bullshit the whole UDD/Red movement is. You expect the UDD have every will obeyed by the current government, just for them to step down and dissolve government for the sake of 1% of the population protesting, get real. You yourself keep harping on about how they are the only Democratic force in Thailand...but you keep ignoring the facts that do not fit that picture.
Sarge, honestly, I cannot be bothered any more, I have a 6 month old daughter and cannot keep up with your bullshit spinning translating the UDD propaganda into ENGLISH for us on the HHAD forum. Good luck with your views on this and I'll just say we agree to disagree because I like all the others that see through the bullshit have inferior knowledge to yourself.
....."Acting government spokesman Panitan Wattanayagorn said: "A white Westerner was involved in the arson attack on CentralWorld, convincing them to set fire to it. And an Asian was also involved in the arson attacks on the banks."
Mr Panitan did not give any names but a video of a British man urging the burning and looting of the shopping mall, taken several days before it was set on fire, has been circulating on the YouTube video sharing website.
The man was identified by the British media as Jeff Savage, a resident of Pattaya. In interviews he reportedly defended his conduct but said he did not take part in the arson attack.".......

...."Situation in Bangkok areas looked calm yesterday but the Center for Resolutions of Emergency Situation extended curfew for another two more days on Monday and Tuesday but shortened period to bar people from public only between 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.
The decision to extend the curfew was made after a group of unknown gun men sprayed bullets into a Bangkok branch in Lad Phrao shortly after Saturday mid night.
Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban said the curfew would be lifted soon but the state of emergency would stay for a certain period of time until the government was sure that the situation would really return to normal.".........

Savage by name and neanderthal by nature (sorry neanderthals) but they did have knowledge of fire. However a/g government spokesman already looking for a scapegoat (other than Thai) - pathetic!!! Perhaps he missed the TV yesterday when the "leaders" were extolling their charges to set the country alight.
Have a squizz at this site: http://www.2bangkok.com/
apparently Mr Savage now arrested. I wonder if he will be put up at the Cha am resort with his mates???
Yet another opportunity to view the mayhem and the red shirt approach to - scorched earth!

Probably not, but just wondering if Cha am/HH has a curfew if these idiots are being held down there. Curfew isn't just in BBK, Korat and Khon Kaen plus others have it too. Nothing happening in Korat, quiet as you like but still have the curfew, though will probably finish soon.
Nope, all normal here, the only red you'll see is the sunburn on the few remaining tourists we have in 'double H'. I really don't think they're stupid enough to even consider coming here bearing in mind who lives here, how much security/military there is already, and that they have virtually no support in this province.

one of the most divisive problems in Thailand at the moment is the constant refrain that the rural farmer is too stupid or corupt to be given the vote.
Wrong allegation: nobody says they are too stupid, it is about lack of education. Completely different thing.
Also lack of education is not restricted to the drop-outs from the rural villages but refers also to the ones who finished some sort of Thai style "education".
We are all living in 'the good old days' of the future.
It might not even be that, Roel. The farmer/rural people still just want things done that assist them and their situation, same as anyone else anywhere, regardless of education or anything else, a reasonable request perhaps as we have spoken about how much they are generally left to fend for themselves with everything. The opposite side so-to-speak just holds that in so much contempt as a waste of money and while sat in their ivory towers hardly even want to acknowledge their existence, they are almost an embarrassment to contemplate. Education is getting better (not the best word to use), slowly, but the choices of where to send kids is getting wider in the rural areas too, like private schools run by older ex-BBK teachers etc, what scares them (elite types) is the numbers game, or more politely democracy in a western sense, they know they'll lose every time, they don't like the rub but like all the goodies that come along with being called a democracy. What we hear from them is just smoke and mirrors, misdirection, excuses or anything to swerve away from this. They see it as, that if they change it all then they are simply going to lose power in the end, we've seen it once already and what they will do if that person doesn't "play ball" with them.
The older generation of rural people are mostly quite content, it's the 40 and below section that are upset, due to better awareness/media access/understanding of the modern world/travel opportunities and what their situation is coupled with a desire for change as belief of a better future gips all these days. Western culture/ideas have gripped everyone and it's at odds with the eastern way of things. The gene is out of the bottle though now.
The corruption issue is constant in whatever situation we disscuss, it's so hopelessly endemic everywhere that it's almost a generic factor to anything we disscuss at all. This is the reason it's so hard to build/maintain roads etc, not through lack of funding, but because every little two bob governor/petty official has to have a slice of the cake to do their jobs and get something done, probably also the real reason why they haven't built any train tracks for decades or why certain airports don't service logical and sensible routes to other parts of the country, maybe the all powerful bus companies pay them off not to do it, who knows?
This whole situation is going to change dramatically in the next generation or so because so many of the so called 'rural folk' have migrated to the cities to work and escape the poverty and hopelessness of the countryside, many now are in good jobs and breaking through to the emerging middle class. It's amazing how the cities empty at long holiday weekends etc and it's amazing to see the pace of developement, private not governmental, in many rural areas. Much of this has been earned in the cities but you'll find that most Thais from the countryside won't talk about the village when in the city and won't talk about the city when they are in the village. I wonder, to be honest, where the next generation of farmers are going to come from anyway, no-one wants to till the land now, everyone wants to be an business person/office worker or a pulic health official etc.
The pace of change here is fast, maybe some of the older posters can tell us how different it was in the late seventies/early eighties compared to now, that is only 30 or so years ago, bet there was absolutely sweat FA then, girlfriends would be asking for soap instead of gold. Infrastructure developement/technological advancement and availability/increasing access to information and the speeds at which they are increasingly happening/becoming available always outstips the speed of social change/change of attitudes/acceptability etc and it's just going to get faster.

Yes, Thais tend to refer to them as 'kwai' which I suppose you could translate as uneducated, although when the price of diesel went through the roof a while back they did start a school for water buffalo up in Issan, so they could teach them how to pull plows again.
The idea of having a school for 'kwai' caused great mirth in my partners village!
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
Thailand's red shirts and yellow shirts battle it out on Facebook
Facebook and other social networking sites are popular tools for Thailand's political yellow shirts, and to a lesser extent their red shirt opponents, in the Thai season of political turmoil. But the sites are amplifying social divisions, say some Thais.
