Yes, I have since found out that it is definitely the JW I was asking about. Eddie is his partner at El Murphy's. So' I'll be catching up with two old school friends in Hua Hin next month. Can't wait!

You can check in at the airport hotel inside the transit area for some sleep and a shower instead of being idle in the lounge. It is actually very refreshing to break a journey that way.
Cracking idea. I was going to have a wander around Dubai for a while and check out the Burj, but I think I'll just do what you have recommended. How much is it to check into the airport hotel?

kendo wrote:As Richard pointed out Peter can book you a taxi service for 1800 baht i have used them twice, they will wait at the gate for you with your name on a cardboard sign, the most important thing is this company's drivers are good steady drivers unlike the majority that will frighten the life out of you by driving to fast or falling asleep at the wheel, (i have experianced both).

I recommend to carry a small blue ice box for the road trips, you can nip up stairs in the airport buy four beers and enjoy your allmost 3 hour drive down to Hua Hin.

Ah, my friend is meeting me at the airport and we are staying in Bangkok for a night and then probably jumping on the train down to Hua Hin. Thanks for your help in this matter.
