Land Office reduced property taxes to end 28th March

Post by Super Joe »

The reduced property taxes/fees that have been in place at Land Offices accross the country for the past 2 years, ends on 28th March 2010. The rates will then return to the old higher rates of 2 years ago.

Anyone with a transfer/registration due in the near future wants to try and get it done by the last available day of Friday 26th March.

Yes afraid so Jimmy. The usual process for that after initiating paperwork with the land office, is the requirement to post a public notice of the transfer for a period of 1 month, then you go back to land office and carry out the registration. So if not already started then don't look like they'll be time to squeeze it in.

Fees may not be too harsh though as land office use their own sq.m rates for the assessed value of a house. It seems to be based on the sq.m of the house 'footprint' ie: excluding external living areas, pool, furniture, kitchen, walls, road, infrastructure etc. Their rates seem quite low too, think they're ages old and based on 'Thai' houses, for example a 5M house only (ie: not incl. land) can get valued at 1M. Presumably people have an obligation to declare their actual build or sale value, but .....
