tv system in Hua Hin

Post by hurm »

I have a tv in Europe I do not use any more. I'm planning to install it in one of my Hua Hin bedrooms. First I have to know the tv system in Thailand, PAL, C-cam. Who knows more about it?

Thailand uses the international tv standard PAL system.
I intend to live forever - so far so good.

Only because of my curiousity: what makes that TV so special?

Way back in 1993 I bought a JVC set in Singapore that was 'multi-system'. I forget if 2 or 3 but PAL and NSxxx were two of them. I brought it here and it worked, but you had to set a switch on the back to the system you wanted.

I haven't seen a set advertising 'multi-system' since then, as I think now they are all built to work everywhere.

I would check your shipping costs and any anticipated Customs Duty here as it may be cheaper just to buy a new one here and sell/donate the old one there. Small non-flat TV's here can be quite inexpensive, I'd say between 4-5K Baht. I think the small 24" Samsung flat LED goes for around 12 now. Pete

Index is now selling a 40" plasma TV, from Samsung I believe, for 25,000 baht something, which is very cheap.

Here's the link for the top electronics store IMO, in Pattaya. This page shows Samsung TV's and some of the prices are lower than I thought. I would think their prices are indicative of everywhere else, unless a sale is going on. Pete

nothing speical, an old one, but during construction I ordered 4 cable connections, and to control if they are working it is handy to have a small portable tv handy, instead of hopping around with the only one huge flatscreen to which all kind of audio/video material has been connected!
Thanks for the reply!
