I was in Guam when this tropical depression formed and passed north of Guam. I got stranded at the Manila airport for 24 hours when it arrived as Typhoon Mirinae Friday night. It was more wind than rain.

I'm in Bangkok now and think I'll stay here rather than let it get a 3rd shot at me.

Does anyone know if a storm like this has re-formed into anything significant when it reaches the warm waters of the Gulf of Thailand?

This morning's update. We have strong gusty winds over here already, and a lot of very dark clouds rushing in from the northeast. Pete

Looks lie Mirinae really broke up when it hit land and the remnants are moving further north than predicted. Click on the animate tab to watch.

Grey and windy in BKK, but no rain yet (we are NW of the downtown area).

I guess it found me -- you can run, but you can't hide !!

No worries - I'm sure some of the other readers will add their bit.

It is my experience that generally the refreshing rain showers come late afternoon, and rarely last much more than an hour.

Just a guess, but I'd say we probably had our last rain of the season a couple of days ago and were in for sunny skies for the next few months!
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

hhf,
I'd tend to agree with you, as long as we don't get any more weather systems heading this way from the East; other than catching the fringe of that typhoon that blew through the Phillipines and other places east it has been largely warm clear days and cooler nights for the last couple of weeks now.

Per the below, there's more coming from the east but let's hope it stays south of all of us. There's some nasty stuff going on in the deep south right now, as well as bad flooding in Samut Prakan and surrounding areas near Bangkok due to high tides. Pete

Take a look at this as of 1630 hours today. I'm getting dumped on over here, about 6" in the last hour an still coming down hard. Heading from the northeast so it may reach HH tonight? This is very strange for this time of year. Pete

Yes, it is very strange. Huge storm in Bangkok on Wednesday, also rained in Hua Hin and most of the way between the two. More rain in Bangkok this afternoon, but not so heavy. :?
