As already noted the stickers are being handed out in numeous locations today - we got ours at Selasian School. I asked how long they would be there doing this, and the lady told me until the 20th October; whether that just applies to Selasian though I don't know but at least it gives a little breathing room, and scotches the Friday rumour earlier in the thread.
IMO, no big deal with these stickers...I got mine in the Tessabahn today...same area where i applied before...coming in and 10 minutes later out again...
The traffic jam within the town, because of the actually "smart" regulations is another story, of course
Well It's good to hear that there are some stickers out there.......we had a
notice posted outside out house advising us to go pick up our stickers at a
location close by....so off we go...walked over to the designated sticker place and found about 100+ people milling about searching through lists.
We were told to find our names on a list, show ID and we would get our sticker. There must have been 70-100 pages of names...in no particular order.....total disorder...chaos.....we gave up after about 40 minutes of searching and fending off people who would try to snatch the list right out of your hands....everybody totally pissed off.....muttering about bringing back Thaksin.....get some order back blah blah...
My solution I think it to get the hell out of here... with or without sticker....go take in some culture in the wife's village.....(where they really appreciate Thaksin...
The manager of our condo, got our passport numbers from us a couple of days ago. Today he stuck a permit on our windscreen. No strain no pain.
We had decided not to worry about it and just stay out of town for a few days. But now with the sticker on our windscreen, will probably still stay out of town for a few days.
So the hunt for the sticker continued today.......reminded me of trying to find the "Scuds" during the first Gulf War..before Saddam fired them at Tel Aviv... We received an "alert" that stickers were being supplied at a school close to Huahin Village Market.....Immediate action required......fast motorbike ride to the school.....hundreds of others had also heard the news. Anyway after filling in a very simple form and showing ID we got our sticker... Immunity from the BIB at last....
While we were filling in the form...an army guy came over and starting chatting..... dripping with medal ribbons and brass.....I did not recognize him at first.....but then it hit me.....he was one of the
people who came to our house weeks ago to collect all the information ...for a sticker.......
I have had it explained to me that the original scheme ( writing down the information on a list and having folks return later) fell through completely and now they are just playing catch up to try to get stickers to everyone who needs one.
I registered a week ago at the tessabaan and went back Wednesday to find a dozen people painstakingly combing through all those lists of names . .which had been written in no particular order . .not even by license plate. I didnt see them issue a single sticker.
They didnt even try to find my original registration. I was waved over to a second table where they did a new one on the spot. A girl filled out the all-Thai half sheet form for me and issued my sticker. Took 20 minutes.
Try the tessabaan if you havent got one yet

Still doing it today at the Catholic school just north of Market Village. I drove by there and saw them; also, check points have started...there is one already just south of the flyover coming into town. They just waved me through, but I have a sticker on the car.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
There are some huge military roadblocks around the town now, just drove through one. Does anyone know if they're turning people away that don't have the stickers?

The traffic hassles began today and will really get worse over the next couple of days as they block two lanes of Phetkasem road for Asean only. They are coning off the two middle lanes (one in each direction) with nailed down cones forcing everyone to drive in the second lane (next to the parking lane). That's trucks, buses, autos, and motorbikes confined to one lane in each direction! I had to go from the south end of town today (south of the flyover) to the north end (Hua Hin Hospital) and back and it was a total nightmare... and they only have the center lanes closed for a small part of that trip, but were rapidly nailing cones to the asphalt as I crept by. My advice for those who have time and money... get out of town for the rest of the month!
