Do you use toilet paper in your house in Thailand?

Post by pitsch »

My thread about the waste tank brought me on the idea for this poll. Thais seem to use toilet paper only for the mouth and the nose and not for other purposes. But I feel not completely clean with this small shower, so I actually use baby wipes after it, which will not be dissolved in the waste tank.

You dont have an option for using both? When I was in my house with a propper toilet I used toilet paper and when I was in the village it was just a bowl of water...

Right on BaaBaa! This is one of the few things I like about Thailand better than the U.S.... bum guns! I never saw them before and I will never again have a bathroom without one! A quick shot with that and you only need a couple of sheets of paper to dry off! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

And if you aim it right and have a big enough pump it acts like an enema and will actually clean you out!
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

OK, I don't want this to deteriorate, it's a real question/comment.

I don't see how the bum guns work without water and ... going all over.
Even my wife, after being away from Thailand for many years, hesitates to use one.

If there is paper, OK, as mentioned, that can dry you off, but when there is no paper....

Maybe I've too heavy a hand?

I first encountered them in the mid seventies whilst on a 2 year exchange with the Iranian Navy (they were on our side at the time). They never had the paper to dry off afterwards, which I always found to be a bit uncomfortable.

You need both really, either or is not enough on its own. No spray gun = not clean enough, no paper to dry = wet boxers and the prospect of a chapped arse/nuts.

As said, a great thing to have both. I remember those B-day things in the UK but found it all such a hassle the way they were configured. Thailand has it right with the easy to grab spray gun by the loo.

What a delightful thread / Poll

I haven't voted as not enough options are covered.

Depends on circumstances and what you have been eating and drinking amongst other things.

Also - how you dispose of Toilet paper Bin or Bowl! - depends on age and type of plumbing you have etc....

Its also a good idea to cover the toilet walls in plastic sheeting after a hot spicy meal as some artexing may occur.

You can then use the arse pistol to hose them down afterwards... :thumb:

bog roll

Post by redzonerocker »

like big boy, i spent a number of years in muslim countries ( i presume you were cultured & used your left hand?!)
i suppose the options should have included the best option at the particular time?:?

westerners generally are more comfortable with the soft quilted toilet roll option.
i spent most of my early childhood at my grandparents house where the choice of toilet roll was izal :(
not the best of toilet memories, continuous finger protusions & then walking around like a baby baboon for several hours after the rituals! :(
is that stuff still available & if so WHY???? :D
