That may be true but what Kolo Toure has is a fighting spirit and in a successful team you can not only rely on elegance. Neither Gallas nor Silvestre (I never understood why Wenger bought him) have any fighting spirit IMO.

toure has been a great servant for us, but there is always a time for players to move on (or be moved on!) & i think the time is now right (especially for that fee  :D :D ) :thumb:
toure started suffering a few niggling injuries this season & will also miss 2 months at least for the african nations cup.
the offer was to good to refuse in my book.

i'm not so sure gallas will be staying either & eboue is definately on his way out
as for silvestre . . . no comment :( :( :(

to early to panic yet as i think there will be a few additions to the squad before the season starts & after having watched vermaelen in action in some of the pre season games, i think he will become a quality addition to the team

couldn't agree more :thumb:
seems like every club has those 'prawn sandwich brigade' fans nowadays :( :cuss:

Man City move for Leeds teenager

Post by Tony_S »

Manchester City have entered the race to sign Leeds United's highly rated midfielder Fabian Delph.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/footbal ... 143153.stm

7/8 million would be nice and back to Leeds on loan for a season would be perfect.

ps...welcome to the big boys Burnley

Burnley 1 v 2 Leeds :guns:

Liverpool have confirmed they have agreed a fee with Real Madrid for the sale of Xabi Alonso.

Real appear poised to finally get their man after striking a deal with Liverpool, believed to be in the region of £30million.

i'd be sad too if i was a liverpool fan, but i'm not, so . . . :neener: :D

he's a terrific player, but i just can't understand all these players heading for madrid :?
with the squad they already had, plus what they've bought, just to get in the matchday squad will be an achievement
not sure it's a good move in football terms but then most of the recent transfers have little to do with footballing matters :(

Liverpool have agreed a fee with Roma for the transfer of Italy midfielder Alberto Aquilani.

The price is thought to be in the region of £20million.

"Alberto is a very good player and I'm delighted we've reached agreement with Roma for his transfer," said Benitez on the club's official website.

"He has long been recognised as a top class talent in Italy, captaining his country at both Under 19 and Under 21 levels before establishing himself in the senior national side."

I believe Alberto Aquilani is only 25 years old so you Liverpool fan will be enjoying his performances for years to come.

Yes he is 25 years old but has a dodgy ankle which kept him out for part of last season.
My Italian mate says he is a class player so I think Liverpool have got a good swap (if he stays fit like Alonso lol)

That is pretty much what I've heard, absolute class when he's on the pitch but has spent alot of time off it because of injurys.

Romas coach and the club in general don't have the best record for dealing with injurys though.

Liverpool FC confirmed this evening that Alberto Aquilani has successfully completed a medical and agreed a 5-year contract with the club.

Aquilani's now ex-midfield colleague Daniele De Rossi believes the Italian international will go from strength to strength by playing alongside Steven Gerrard.

"We are losing a great player,He's a footballer with exceptional skill."

"But if you think about his career I think it would be a good opportunity, he would grow a lot by being close to the best midfielder in the world – Steven Gerrard."
