Looking to buy hol/retirement home ? Golf Membership Query
Yes, you could hear the mosque near PH but it depends on the wind and where you live on the complex. PH maybe boring to some but they do have killer greens and it's a great course to walk as the distance between holes are not very long. BM by hands down, is the best if not for the prices of the property and kind of situated "out there". It's not an easy course to walk, a couple of holes are uphills. Banyan is also a great course but the houses are on the other side of the hills from the course, you need to take a detour to get there - until they do the promised trail over the hills connecting the housing area and the course at hole 15. Banyan is also having problems with custom build houses, the schedule is delayed by some 12 months, although the investment houses are sold out. Banyan is also planning a huge block of condos on the property, I think something like 16 buildings each 6 or 7 stories high....That is the talk though. PH being the oldest golf community has the best infrastruture so far and the club house food is better then all others. They also have a nice gym and recreation club house. I am sure BM and Banyan will surpass PH but it will take a few years to set everything in and working, until then I think PH is probably the best golf community to live right now.
PH does have a nice clubhouse and rec facilities with tennis, squash, badminton courts, small gym and a pool. Not sure that either BM or Banyan will ever have all those...Tennis at Banyan, some kind of pools at BM and Banyan but that's probably it. BM has the nicest golf practice facilties of them all and the fastest/best greens.
I thought the greens at PH were almost all the same, sloping and not particularly fast when I was there and almost all the same shape. It was very easy to walk. As someone said, probably a great course if you're sixty or older and want a nice walk in a nice environment. I was playing poorly when I was there and still managed to be several shots below my handicap.
My preference for a course is to have hills, water, dog legs, lots of risk/reward kind of shots. I don't like to feel I'm playing the same holes over and over again which is what I felt at PH. When I finished the course, I couldn't even remember one distinctive or signature hole, they all seem to blend into one... I'm sure it gives some people comfort because it's uncomplicated and not much thinking is needed.
