Looking for maid...

Post by Frost »

Hi guys, i really have a problem to solve rigth now...

It seems that my little daughter of 21 month age is going to live with me.
The problem is, that i am always very very busy, so i am actually looking for a maid.

She preferable have to be between 25-30 and have no familiar ties, this means not married and no BF.

Just beause she will have to live with us for a while and take care my daughter 24/7

I live in a bungalow and not married and no GF, and the maid will have to take care of my daughter 24 hours, full time job. Also do some homework.

I have a sleeping room for the maid and she would have to sleep in my house.

The question is, where i can find a reliable maid, how are the usual salarys for that kind of work?

Any suggestions, any ideas?

This is not as easy as one might think, the above description of a maid might be very hard to meet. Many Thai women are already 'up-to-their-necks' in family committment by then and the ones that aren't are probably on a good job ticket. Finding one with no BF(scooter boy) is almost dreamland.

Also, trying to find a capable/committed/trustworthy/reliable maid, of that age range, is tricky......that will stay with you for any decent length of time.

There will probably be other posters that can be of more help with better experience but this could be a hard one to crack in a satisfiable fashion.

Don't know how "professional" the local child minders are here, it's not going to be like in the west, or whether they are prepared to do housework aswell and whether a good maid would be a good child minder.

If you are very busy and don't have a lot of time then it's a big decision. There are plenty of nurses around to employ and you could get a maid to do the more mundane stuff a few times a week.

Difficult problem to fix in a way that you would have 'peace of mind'.

Good luck, sorry I can't be of more help.

I used to employ such a maid when my daughter was young in Indonesia.
I would seriously advise you to go for someone older if you want any reliability. Mine was excellent and she did absolutely everything required and was honest and reliable, but she was a widow in her fifties with grown up children.
People I knew with young maids had nothing but problems with boyfriends and family and the fact that they had no experience with children.

Thanks guys, i considered everything with a lot of brainstorming, and i found another solution for myself.

For my situation is the best to find a girlfreind who accepts my daughter. This may be easyer than a nanny. I will have to give up my single life, but i only care about what its best for my baby, so i will do it...

Next step: find a "good" GF (may be also hard, but still easier)

Not sure if that will be easier.
But explains the profile in your first post.

An old girlfriend in Honduras used to go "upcountry" and find a family with a young daughter. She would discuss it with them, then the girl.

Good opportunity for the girl, paid to come to the big city, etc.

She used to have great help.

That's a good idea if it can be done here without the fear the girl will be pushed into a brothel, and convince the parents the 'client' isn't just looking for an easy lay.

The OP would need a Thai female friend to go with for sure. No way to do it alone unless his, the girl's, and the family goal is to marry her off.

I would think it would work for 1-2 years before she became wise and disappeared with a Thai boyfriend, or into a bar after talking to other local lasses, or forced the OP to marry her. :D.

Life is short, try it. Makes a good story as well about how it all turns out. :D Pete

That was about the time limit, 2 years.

You're right Pete, she had friends in the village that she went to and they gave her credibility.

There is a nice international kindergarden in Hua Hin
who will take good care of your daughter some hours of the day.
If you work and live in HH you should know someone
that can help you to find a nanny.
Ask around - ask your expat female friends.
Even I living in Norway would have managed to find
a trustful person.
But I am not your friend....

I do in fact know a Thai women who I think is about 30 years old. She is single but does have a kid from a past marriage to a Thai. She is an absolute gem with kids and is quite happy spending each and every minute of her life with kids. She's just one of those women who are a "mother" if you know what I mean. The only problem is that she doesn't speak English. If you're alright with that then feel free to get in touch with me and I'll get my wife to contact her.
