My two cents worth...
While not a regular, I did an afternoon walkthrough to the places sponsored on this website. I thought it only fair at the time, as I planned on continuing on to the Jazz festival.
Had a beer at Lucky Luke's, there was an amiable small afternoon crowd.
Lazy Daze was very quiet, the girls more interested in dominos, but it was three in the afternoon after all.
On to Goanna's, absolutely quiet, the girls more interested in checking their email. But one of them did say it was a bit early, and that it's supposed to be low season.
Back to Lucky Luke's for another quick one, the crowd had improved, and Lazy Daze still quiet.
Then, off to Top Mark's, ran into one of the guys who had been at Lucky Luke's, and met a great crowd of people there. (Jon, if you're reading this, your email doesn't work)
Finally ended up at Toro's before staggering back to the room.
Maybe I'll catch the Jazz next year...

My top three (although I've had many a drink in many other excellent bars in HH)
1. Dubliner (The Ship) - I think this place listed me as a business expense! Thanks Eddie!
2. London - Nice tables and wonderful people.
3. J&B (The Shed) - A great place to start the night.
My honorable mentions are the following - Old Germany, Blue Room, Phoenix (a bit of a drive), and Celtic.

1. Rose Bar - more laid back and less hassles than other bars on bintahbat, good for people watching, my bill always seems to be a bit cheaper than expected, and the bartender is a keeper for those of you still looking.
2. Fairways - friendly bar staff, usually at least 1 or 2 attractrive ladies, more relaxing and easier to lay low than bars on bintahbat.
3. Gorges Bar - good place to start the evening, friendly bunch of regulars, good eats next door, fun and lively ladies.

It took me a while to realise I was reading an old thread and that Buksida had posted two links to other, equally old threads, in this, initially, old thread!
Its amazing what a really heavy cold, confinement to indoors (so as not to pollute the rest of the UK) and boredom lead you to.
Its strange how these old threads are picked up after so long?
Interesting, or sad to note how many posters have fallen by the wayside - I hope they are okay - and even a mod has gone!
Anyway, as a tourist (for now), I have made it a point of principal to avoid the main bars populated by other Brits at least -unless to watch footy, after all I am on my hols when there - but now thats changing, so may I.
With just one brief mention of one the bars I have used, I'm pleased to see that I have remained on the fringe, bar a few games of mid-afternoon pool at the U-turn bar last time I was there.
I'd start another poll - the worst loos! The U-turn gets my vote on that one.

Was only there in June last year and have three that I have to mention.
1st the London Lounge, was out in town on the 1st Saturday that I was there, had wandered around town and not found much action. Stumbled on the London Lounge on a night that (I think was that the girl that was in charge of the bar) was having a birthday party. Was invited in, made very welcome, introduced to most of the people that attended the party and had a great night. I ended up making that my bar as a base for the time that I was there. Went back also with my G/F (Irish) and never got any hassle from anyone in the bar at all. Was still made to feel as welcome by the girls and Widj as the night that I was there on my own.
2nd was the Limelight, went in there on my 1st day in HH and found the staff to be very friendly and helpful.
3rd The Swedish Bar at the top of the street where the London Lounge is. The smartest dressed bargirls in HH. Always dressed in in very smart Thai style clothes and always very friendly and chatty.
Special Mentions to the Monsoon Bar, The Road Hole and the Celtic Bar.
A lot of people in the past have had a lot of not so nice things to say about the Celtic, but at the time that I was there, can have no complaints.

P and P could be one of the best in town, but the beer is never cold and the music is terrible, apart from that its great. But what is a bar about - beer and music. The guys who like p and p do so because some of the staff who have neen involved for a long time are very good and their is always a decent choice of girls. It would be better described as a great pick up bar, as is London Lounge after Wij left. I honestly feel that there is not a bar in town that offers the full package, cold beer, good music, good girls, good pool table etc.
Norseman, at the time I went in June, I had only just signed up on HHAD, and in the previous 2/3 months there was a lost of bad postings about the goings on within the Celtic Bar in regard to the new owners, attitude of the staff etc.
I can only speak on what happened to me, but on my 1st visit there, it was a stinking hot day, and had just walked up the beach from the hotel I was staying at (near the Lets Sea bar).
Bearing in mind that it was only 11am in the morning and the staff were only just setting up for the day, I entered the bar, asked if they were open, and although being told that they were not was told to sit at the bar and they would orgainise me a drink.
Drinks appeared straight away along with a welcome cold face cloth (something that a lot of bars in HH do not supply as soon as you sit down, unlike in Phuket and other places I have visted in Thailand).
I found the staff easy to converse with (their english was not the best, but was still able to have a conversation with them), and was always made welcome every time I went there.
As I said, I can only comment on what I saw in the time that I was there, but if I lived there, perhaps the experinece would not have been the same.
One funny thing that I saw while I was there. They had a huge Budaha in the RH corner of the bar, and put out the biggest offerings to the Budaha that I have ever seen. There was enough food put out to feed an army (initially I thought that it was and early lunch for the staff there). After all of the food came out and put in front of the Budaha, they finished the offereings off by leaving 2 large glasses of top shelf brandy as well. Is there any special significance in leaving alchohol as well as the food.

Hi there chelsea. I have a short time memory, and barely remember the old postings about the Celtic-fuss.
Never had a bad time there myself but am not a frequent visitor.
As for Buddha; he's treated like any man and enjoy his spirits.
I have a spirits house in my garden and my missus treats him the same way.
He obviously have a sense of Sang Som!
