It was an asphalt road and not a pothole in it when we moved in, then the construction across the road and a bad rainy season (last year or the year before) completely destroyed it... and yes, it is now a mostly Farang residential neighborhood. When we bought our land to build on, it was surrounded by nothing but farm/empty/cattle grazing land, then the area got caught up in the construction boom.

Sounds like my road in Soi 94.
Ashphalt doesn't work here for me, they do not prepare the ground first, ie: compact it properly, although they do seem to have up on the Pala-U road.
Then where you have weak spots under the ashphalt, a lorry cracks it, rain gets in and it opens up in no time.

They just spread pea gravel on that part of Soi 102 today so it's ok for the time being, or until the next big rain and a few trucks pass over it!

i was told by someone, that the roads are graded by how many people are registered as living on or near it,this was by someone wo lives in a area near a prison,so all the inmates are counted ,hence why his roads arond his way are superb ,better than most european roads and get very well maintained,so maybe thats the reason
come cruising on the gulf of thailand with the mai thai in hua hin please click the link below

I live at Chutikran, the road to the estate is always full of pot holes etc and unless you drive a truck I would suggest it can be impassable, the Thai developer has said on many occasions that she will get the road fixed.

Of course this has not and probably will not ever happen so I guess it is up to the residences to fork out and get it concreted.

My wife is ill and suffers with a bad spine and has too wear a neck brace just to enable her to be driven along this road.

On my way to golf this morning I called in at Immigration for my 90 day report. I was just telling my friend about how bad the soi was before we reached it.
I was "gobsmacked" to find that the road was half decent!

When i put my own water supply to the house from the main off the pipe in the road across my land they still charged me a load to get my first bill and i had installed the meter and payed for it , TIT. :cuss:

The developer promised many many times that road into the Chutikran estate would be correctly surfaced, it has on a few occasions been filled in and levelled but that only lasts a few days.

Last year someone told me that they went to the Gov Office that deals with such things, they were told that the developer is responsible to pay part of the cost, I don't know how true this is, needless to say nothing constructive has been done.

In any event what ever they do will not last long! :(

Put it on your land. The elec company would not even let us put it outside our land as we wanted because don't look nice.
But when on your land no-one can connect into it.

I think they would still find away to swindle you and reposes it they are allways wanting us to pay for everything .
Our soy is 1.5k long and goes along the Phetch river owo thirds was concoreted about 3yrs ago in 2 stages but nothing done to it from then.
As my bit is not done i am hopping that they will finish the soy to the end , but they think that oh he is a farang he can pay for that bit its a good job i didnt live at the start of the soy. at leased its 2 parts done.

Yes I have come to the conclusion that there is only one thing guaranteed in Thailand, that is the falang ALWAYS pays regardless!

Sorry to go on but the more I think about things, the more convinced I am that the majority of Thai's do not want us here, they really are only interested in our money.

After living here for three years my wife and I have concluded that ALL we are is a source of easy money for them and a few unscrupulous falang developers etc.

I read somewhere that Thailand is a developing country? yes it is developing into another third world African Nation.

I can assure the last 2 posters, after many years of observation and experience, that chasing the cash is not a Thai-farang phenomenon .Those that do it do it amongst themselves .Watch a minor car or motorbike accident involving these types for example .First thing they do is fake as many injuries as possible whilst everyone else ignores them and starts alerting as many people as possible to the 3 year old scratches on their own vehicle .

Only the naive or stupid Farang "always pays"
