We are two adults, 3 kids (13, 12 and 9) looking for affordable condo/house/apt rental for the week after Christmas. We would like access to a pool and a kitchen. We are missionaries, so trying to keep the cost down. Any leads?
Thanks! I've enjoyed reading posts on this website and forum!
Hi singalong and welcome to HHAD!
I think you may need to give a bit more info as to what you want, such as budget, distance from town, whether you will have transport or need it and such like. There are a vast amount of properties available, but anything with a pool will tend to be more up market and thus more expensive, although you may be able to find somewhere that is near a pool that you can use. To be honest though you would probably do just as well at a decent hotel for such a short period in peak season. Again, without having some idea of your budget in actual cash terms it is hard to advise.
Thanks for the advice, Wanderlust! OK, we will have our own transport, so we do not need to be on the beach, and for our price range, we expect not to be (although we would love sea views and sounds but know this is going to be difficult, given peak time). We would like to keep our accommodations to $100/night if possible. If we have a refrigerator, then we can take care of our own breakfast. A complete kitchen would give us even more flexibility. If breakfast is included in the rate, then we understand the price will probably be higher. A community pool is fine, doesn't have to be private (ie with a house). As we are a quiet family, a quiet area is preferred (not looking for night life). We will take ourselves to beaches, day trips, etc., during our time there. Our dates are also somewhat flexible.
singalong,
You should be able to find a very nice hotel near or on the beach for that sort of budget, especially if you aren't bothered about nightlife. i will leave it to others to make recommendations as I live here so have not had reason to stay short term in any accommodation here for a long time, however I just did a quick check of the Holiday Inn Regent Beach and the hotel's own website quotes a rate for two single rooms only a bit above your quoted budget so a bit of hunting on the internet is bound to secure you something satisfactory. Otherwise I am sure you will be able to find a condo or similar, so I hope others will respond on here. I still think a hotel is your best bet though.
Thanks, Wanderlust. I will keep up my internet sleuthing.... I had been thinking in terms of one family room, but perhaps our best deal is going to be two rooms...
