GBP vs.ThBt

Yes Caller, that guy in your article was done for overpayment of a combination of benefits, all means tested ones by the look of it. Plus overpayment of Housing Benefit probably because he didn't declare his wife being there with him.
Its very true though that people often don't understand the rules when going abroad, and hardly surprising!

Stock markets rally but still the GBP only buys 58.605 and falling. When will it end?

Yesterday I was forced by circumstances to have to draw money from the Bank of Ayudayua ATM on Phetkasem road Well Mrs Sarge did @ exactly 1018.
She rang me and I checked the Link Super Joe gave me and the cyber rate was 57.59 Bht to the pound
I have checked my nationwide account today and for the 15,000 Bht she withdrew my nationwide account has been deducted exactly 257.98 pounds that is a real definite factual rate of 58.14 Bht to the pound
Please note no charges from either Nationwide or Bank of Ayudayha just an exchange rate

Sarge, when you go on that site do you change the default setting from 'notes' to 'TT' (telegraphic transfer) ?
As 'TT' rates are always higher, presumably banks use that rate for ATM withdrawals (anyone know ??) and it may explain the discrepancy in the rates.

SJ i leave it on notes but i think it was somewhere between 4 and 5 hours after the 1018 time it was drawn before it showed up on my nationwide account the time between drawing it and when it is deducted from my account could explain the difference thats just a surmise i suppose i could have got less under that scenario as well.

There's a big difference between the two, Bangkok Bank today:
Notes = 58.30, TT = 59.17.

Sarge,

Is that Nationwide account of yours on or offshore and is it a current or savings account?
