Re: Quick and cheap transport from Bangkok?

There are afternoon trains from Bkk to HH. One at about 13.30, (which I think is the Yala sleeper) then one about 16.30 ish which gets in to HH about quarter to ten - given a back wind! I think there's also one from Bkk about midday. It was actually Margaret who wrote about the train arriving at ab...

Re: Quick and cheap transport from Bangkok?

Thanks also to margaretcarnes and TimandT. One more question to TimandT who wrote "about 16.30 ish which gets in to HH about quarter to ten - given a back wind!" - should we suppose the train always to be (much) late?

Re: Quick and cheap transport from Bangkok?

Now I drive myself everywhere (I know not an option for all), if I didn't, then I'd probably take the train as I reckon it appears to be the safest mode of transportation still, just a slight restriction of lines/destinations to and from etc, although not the case from BBK to HH and the other way r...

Re: Hua Hin floods/situation

This is what is said at the home page of Tourist Authority News room 17 November.
"Flood waters are receding in most of the affected areas of Thailand’s central provinces and several districts of greater Bangkok"

Re: Hua Hin Jazz Festival 2010

As I will be coming in February I understand there will be no Jazz festival, but wonder whether there are any places where one can find jazz regularly.

Re: Cooking school

Yes. There is one I know of. Tried it, very good. They'll pick you up in the morning at your hotel, take you to the market to buy the food after which you will be taken back to a Thai house where you will cook and eat a variety of Thai dishes (including curries, soups, deserts and beetles (if you h...

Re: When was your first visit to Hua Hin?

I visited Hua Hin on my own a couple of days in Feb 1993. I had been to Chang Mai and Chang Rai to learn about how civil society/peoples organisations could use development aid money to support indigenous groups who had (and still have) a tough time in the Thai society. I was tired and went down jus...

Re: Quick and cheap transport from Bangkok?

Yep, take a mini-van and roll the dice as to whether you get there in one piece......or not, freaking lunatics they are. :| After a three week trip in Vietnam and Cambodja it would be stupid to "roll the dice" as to whether get the last days of rest before going home again or not. /Bluebe...

Re: Quick and cheap transport from Bangkok?

I don´t like the mini bus, so I have found a private driver which will take me from anywhere in BKK t HH for 1800 bt, and he drive me to the door. From HH to BKK he charge me 1600 bt, and he will sop for a rest when I ask him, and it´s alloved to smoke in the car. Might have been a deal - if it was...
