Re: Astronomy, cosmology and space thread

Hi, I've always loved astronomy and had a telescope as a boy. Unfortunately, every time I tried to use it, the lens would suffer condensation, and I never saw anything. So I sold it and bought an air rifle. Anyway, 50 years on I want to try again. Next year I'm going to stay outside of Chiang Mai f...

Re: Hua Hin Town Plan nears approval after nearly a decade in development

Looks like the need for some new bar areas has been forgotten again.

Re: Thai Social Security

If I've not heard anything about he age eligibility for Thais joining the 435 Baht a month scheme, I'll head down to the Social Security Office on Phekersam road, and post anything relevant.

Re: Thai national health insurance for foreigners

BB, I think 60 is considered pretty old in Thailand! I read that not so long ago, the majority of Thais' used to die in their late 50's? I still feel relatively young even though I also have six score on the door. My thoughts with the insurance, is that if the parents need more expensive trea...

Thai Social Security

I know the thread title is for foreigners, but I want to find out if Thai nationals, nearing 70, can opt into the 30 Baht or 435 Baht schemes run by the Thai government. The elderly parents of Mrs Robinhood still farm, and pay as they go at the local hospital in Issan. It might be a good move for me...

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income

Does the income not have to be taxed in-year to be exempt? I'm not sure. However, Self assessment is done up to 9 months after the income received. And so if you have , lets say 100,000 pounds in the bank (built up over several years), and you send 2,000 pounds to Thailand. Does anybody know from w...

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income

We do not have pensions coming from uk into Thailand. We have the required funds for our visa sitting in Thai bank accounts. We are not uk pension age. We have retired from working. We live off our savings in our uk bank account. This may sound silly but Could someone clarify for me if bringing in ...

Re: Hua Hin hospital special medical clinic

Excellent article 404cameljocky. I think the requirement for the yellow Tabian Taan or house book registration is for the insurance after you leave your employer. While you work for your employer, they will deduct the fee from you salary. I think the key point is to realise you have six months after...

Re: Hua Hin hospital special medical clinic

My superficial understanding is that Thai's and Farangs with Work Permits can opt to pay into the 400B scheme. I know Thais who pay 400B into the scheme every month at 7-11 They get their medicine free, subsidised dentistry (they pay the first 900B) and, things like scans at very low prices. One obs...

Re: Hua Hin hospital special medical clinic

Hi, I've been following threads about the Premium Clinic/SMC Clinic for a few years now. I always thought SMC seemed a reasonable offer for Falangs who were prepared to pay a little more to avoid the worst of the queues at HH Hospital. This year it feels like SMC have reduced the services offered, m...

Thanks Big Boy, a good link.

Fair result, and be interesting to see if Fury goes for the rematch.
