Scary Monsters on Binthabat

Post by Big Boy »

We were out for an early evening drink (granddaughters have school in the morning  ) last night. I was the only Farang in the bar.

We were sat in the Happy Toro Bar being amused by my youngest granddaughter being terrorised by one of the resident cats - she is really scared of them :D

Anyway, she was sat on her mum's lap, with her eyes constantly scanning the floor for the next attack, with me watching her.

Suddenly, the look in her eyes turned to absolute terror, and she wanted to cry, but couldn't. I looked on the floor where her eyes had been looking, and there was a snake coming straight for me  .

I gave the beast the respect it deserved by immediately retreating several tables away where I could still see it - my head was still clear enough to allow me to pick up my beer en-route :D

Once I had sat down at my new location, I saw that the rest of my family were stood on seats.

In the low lighting, the snake looked black, and was 9 to 15 inches long (not much of a girth) - it was always travelling in an S shape, so couldn't really gauge the length.

The commotion obviously attracted the bar staff. After so many reports on this forum, I thought to myself, "Here comes the broom-handle, and the mandatory beating to death."

Far from it, they decided the beast was only a baby, and guided it back on to the road using sticks. I last saw it slithering West (I think) up Binthabat in the direction of the temple.

Baby or not, it scared the hell out me, although I am quite proud that I remained in control of my bowel movements :D

In 20ish years of visiting Thailand this is my first public encounter with a beast of the slithering kind.

This is not a dig at the bar - it could have happened in any bar

Incidentally, if ever any bar deserved to charge for service, it was this one. I've no idea how much tip my wife left, but it was worth it. Those  girls  were so cool.

Lindosfan, I now understand why you have to take your dog to the bar with you :D

Bozzman101: You poor sad man. I suggest you pack your little sad bag and pop off to maybe Pattaya or Patong Bay or Patpong (don't know why they all begin with 'P' - strange that...).

I find your post hugely offensive to females. I'd like to say more, but I'll leave it at that.

Well said. I get fed up with the remarks some individuals (they are not men) and their comments.
How the girls put up with their fat bellies boozy breathe and general air of a rotting pig beats me.
Bozzman I would rather be with the dogs in the dog pound than an idiot like you any day

Bozzman,
Your latest post on this subject has been deleted.
Can you keep your negative comments about the girls confined to the appropriate section - namely Nightcrawlers.
