We were sat in the Happy Toro Bar being amused by my youngest granddaughter being terrorised by one of the resident cats - she is really scared of them

Anyway, she was sat on her mum's lap, with her eyes constantly scanning the floor for the next attack, with me watching her.
Suddenly, the look in her eyes turned to absolute terror, and she wanted to cry, but couldn't. I looked on the floor where her eyes had been looking, and there was a snake coming straight for me

I gave the beast the respect it deserved by immediately retreating several tables away where I could still see it - my head was still clear enough to allow me to pick up my beer en-route

Once I had sat down at my new location, I saw that the rest of my family were stood on seats.
In the low lighting, the snake looked black, and was 9 to 15 inches long (not much of a girth) - it was always travelling in an S shape, so couldn't really gauge the length.
The commotion obviously attracted the bar staff. After so many reports on this forum, I thought to myself, "Here comes the broom-handle, and the mandatory beating to death."
Far from it, they decided the beast was only a baby, and guided it back on to the road using sticks. I last saw it slithering West (I think) up Binthabat in the direction of the temple.
Baby or not, it scared the hell out me, although I am quite proud that I remained in control of my bowel movements

In 20ish years of visiting Thailand this is my first public encounter with a beast of the slithering kind.
This is not a dig at the bar - it could have happened in any bar
