World cup live

Post by Rob c »

As some of the world cup games are not kicking off in Germany until 9 o'clock at night, what's the likelihood of any of the bars in HH staying open extra late to show any of the later games??

Or is it more likely they'll just be shown the next day or whenever?

Cheers

I'm also interested this think because I'm in June in HH. And I must see to England match. I hope to HH bars get extra time opening hours on the night.

Cheers!

Don't worry Joni, they'll be plenty of bars open showing the late games, which I think after Europe's clock's change again, will be a 2am KO here.

There's a nice little Italian restaurant (part open air/part covered), just outside town that will be showing them too. Going there to watch the Chelski v Barca champions league match next Wed night/Thur morning.
The owner's football mad and keeps the kitchen open through the night!!

It's only the UK that changes their clocks, not Europe isn't it?? So the footy will be 3 o'clock in the morning I believe.

But hey, if there's a bar open that's where I'll be. :D

Self edit: Derrrr completely wrong, as usual, 2 o'clock it is, sorry!

Dont worry rob,

There will be many bars open for this event.

Many will employ the Lock In system, why do you think we call them Innkeepers,

Got a feeling from a conversation a while back that Crawfords HH will be staying open for the late games. Maybe Ken can confirm ??
Big screen upstairs, should get a good crowd and atmosphere in there.
The schedule each day is something like a game at 8pm, 11pm then 2am.
Footballfest is ever there was.

I can guarantee that there will be many places where you can watch the football.

I have to make you all aware that the sale of alcohol is prohibited after midnight so you better all develop a taste for Orange Juice.

On the subject of soccer, especially for those of you that follow England, I have just done some analysis and it looks like England have a very good chance of reaching the last eight. If they can inherit some of the Liverpool luck maybe even the last four.

But the government have designated certain areas where nightclubs and bars can still serve up till 1am and 2am though, haven't they ?
That's what I read somewhere, or has a newer law come in after that one ?

I believe it is midnight now. Was 1am, but they cut it back an hour at the end of last year. Certainly, a lot of 7-11s wont serve booze after midnight now.
I had my old bar 8 years ago when the World Cup was in France. Manna from heaven with the late games kicking off at 2 or 3 am. Every bar on Bintabart was packed - they're weren't quite so many in those days, mind you. And the police were far more tolerant of opening hours. We could be fully open 24 hours a day if we wanted, despit the 2am closing time. Just had to keep an orderly house and the music turned down low after 2am.
So much for Land of Smiles. Good luck to all the bars. I hope the police are tolerant during the tournament. Bar owners, don't expect to get much sleep for a month :thumb:

My understanding from the bar owners is that 1am is the official drinking time limit, and then all bars must be closed by 2 am.

This will of course not apply during the world cup anymore than it does now.

A few baht here and there does wonders for late opening.

I know a couple of months ago they made bars close at 12pm but after a meeting with police this was extended.

I cant think of any bars that close before 2am, exept maybe the quiet ones.

Maybe JW or any other bar owners on here could comment.
