Grace's American Burgers: The worst costumer experience

Post by ChicoTheFox »

The "chef / owner" came out to pick a fight with a customer because he is always right.

Basically we all (3 friends) ordered a medium bacon burger from the restaurant, but one arrived and there was a lot of blood coming out of the burger. The Thai waiting staff came over and gave the typical "Oh hoo" (about the amount of blood coming out) and the burger was sent back to be cooked more. All the other burgers were ok, but the one burger was oozing blood which we all said was clearly a rare burger (not medium).

Next, a guy came out claiming to be the "owner/chef" of the establishment and asked "Is everything ok?" we basically replied all was well but one burger had a bit too much blood and needed to be cooked some more (no real hassle), to which the "owner/chef" said that we was wrong and became very confrontational. He basically made what would have been a minor problem into a potentially violent situation. The guy clearly has zero idea of customer service.

The problem was compounded by the fact that we were accompanied by our girlfriends and we really didn't want to make a scene, but that didn't seem to stop the "owner/chef" from trying to stir up trouble.

The thing that got me most is that I doubt he has any certification for cooking, so he isn't technically a chef and he definitely doesn't own the land, so he's not the owner. Basically, he's a guy in a rented shed cooking burgers on a big ego trip, but somehow managing to charge excessive prices! Avoid at all costs.

But if one burger had been cooked properly then it wouldn't really have 'got you the most', right?

Nor do Sizzler's in Market Village... not real owners, avoid at all costs

... now that does sound bad, when you saw the rented shed set-up and excessive prices what was your reaction?... "we basically replied all was well"

Stop with the grassy stuff -- farangs stictching up other farangs is what's wrong with Thailand -- and tell us what really happened. If it's 100% as you've described then he's completely out of order, somehow I feel there's a little more to the story...

Wow , I wish I had your problems, do you want to swap. that seems like paradise to me, if all you have to moan about in your life is an irrate burger cook. (Im nothing to do with the place or the owner by the way, just envious of your life.

^^ What really happened?^^

We ordered some food and the guy came out to try and pick a fight.

Sorry, but for me, that is bad enough to warrant a review far more scathing than the one above.

Sure if exactly as told a scathing report is warranted, trying to drop someone in it (behind a new anonmymous username) for legal irregularities that you were all too happy to support before, are not in my personal opinion.

Never even knew the place existed, will give it a try later and politely tell them the tomato sauce is not real Heinz... :D Chico, any guesses on what he might give as his 'side of the story'??

Hi Chico,

Welcome to the forum, what a really interesting first post

Please tell us where we can find this place, as it sure sounds a lot more interesting than a lot of the lovely, but boring places we normally go to for meals!

 Erm ..... second thoughts what size /weight would you reckon he is?

From your comments, SJ, I thought you knew both the place and the poster! Are we missing something? :?

No haven't a clue D-M, just think trying to ruin a person's business would suffice when it comes to an under-cooked burger :D Publically airing suspected legal irregularies (that pre-under-cooking you were all too happy to turn a blind eye to) is taking it a bit far.

And doing it anonymously allowing a.n.other's business to be the one that might reap any comeback, is taking it even even further further :D :D

Chico

May I ask what nationality you are? Should not make a difference but often does. Never heard of the place but will certainly try it if it does proper home made burgers. As long as they are good the "not chef/owner" can jump up and down as much as he likes.

Grace's American Burgers and Grill @ You Yen
Prachuap Khiri Khan, 77110,Thailand, 4947 Hua Hin 51 Naeb Khehars Rd., Hua Hin, Hua Hin, 77110

Grace's is an American style Hamburger and Grill in Hua Hin. We serve all homemade foods and 100% beef. It's located at You Yen Hua Hin Balcony that is right on the beach with great views of the sea.

This is what I found on Google about, sounds like a great setting.
Almost opposite Soi 51 on Nebkehardt.

I've eaten there a few times before and my friends' kids always have the burgers (amongst other stuff).
I've never heard a complaint from the parents or the kids and the rest of the food is great.
Really nice setting, just north of Coco 51 on the beach side of the road.
I assume this is the same place as the OP is referring to?

So Chico one burger came back f&*^d up get over it. The gentleman you refer to is the owner and to be honest is not a confrontational person. So either you were drunk or you are a tight wad, tool, or herb as we say in the states.

My experiences at the restuarant have been wonderful, as native of Philadelphia Gracie's has the closest thing to a Philadelphia Cheese Steak on the menu. Let me not forget about the ribs they serve with homade BBQ sauce. I usually start out my meals with the homade mozzorella sticks and move onto the cheese steak. Between the Mc Donalds, Burger King, and Binda Baht burgers it is great to have a change on a menu. I have also been told that they plan to come out with a new sweet and sour sauce for the ribs so I can't wait for that.

If no one has ever been there I would suggest you go, it can be a little on the pricey side but if you are into authentic American Cuisine then it is the place to be. I would say try the Tastes of America or the Ultimate Taste, these plates allow you to sample majority of what Gracie's has to offer. I think one comes with a reduced price of a pitcher of beer. If not try the CHEESE STEAK or a burger it is all good.

And back to you Chico if I were the owner I would THANKY YOU because it seems you have brought more attention to the restuarant then not. If he doesn't I will THANK YOU TOOL. It was just a bloody burger my God what would have done if it came out Medium Well or Well done LOL.

A Gracie's Regular.

If the owner wants more attention for the restaurant he should consider one of these: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=15017

Funny how threads like this bring out newbies to retaliate?

And actually, the OP wasn't moaning about the undercooked burger, seemed to be very reasonable and understanding about that. The complaint was about what happened next, but don't let a small fact get in the way.

I guess the old adage applies, all publicity is good publicity?

If anyone else has to send something back, do let us know what happened? The excitement is killing me!
