And according to the authorities, the cases were in Hua Hin. As stated below:

"Prachuap Khiri Khan department of public health issued a notice for people to go to Hua Hin Hospital or the nearest hospital to them urgently if they had been at a pub or a shop in the city between certain times in the last week.

The venues and times are:

Maya Pub, Hua Hin, 30th March 10.30pm to 2 am
Ting Kowlee (Korean) shop, Hua Hin, 1st April 6-7pm.

The notice came as Prachuap registered two new cases of coronavirus on Monday, the first new cases in the province for several weeks."

Edit: Sorry, I see this was already posted elsewhere.

Here's the notice they issued, in Thai, for those who can read it.

This is confusing because neither venue is mentioned in the timeline of the 2 cases. Are there other cases, or were these people economical with the truth?

The notice and timeline are available here.

In Thai.

According to my daughter this morning, these are different to those reported in the timeline. I think it's time to batten down the hatches, the storm could be coming.

My translation of this link states Maya has been closed down for 14 days https://www.talknewsonline.com/340793/? ... 3cyoMTDyXs. It is also talking about multiple infections.

I must say, in my mind, closing one bar after the event for 2 weeks doesn't really achieve very much. Especially when a deep clean seems to suffice everywhere else.

I think the point is to prevent crowds. AFAIK May is a pub/nightclub. Makes sense to me.

Several areas of BKK are getting more restrictions because of the rise in cases. 250 reported today.

Makes no sense to me whatsoever. The danger was 6 days ago. I assume (don't know) that the area has since been cleansed.

Closing a single bar, and leaving hundreds open will achieve nothing. The people that were going to use Maya for the next 14 nights aren't going to say they'd better stay at home then. They'll simply go to another bar.

It does clear up the connection between the original couple and the pub and restaurant.

Business closure notice for Prachuap Khiri Khan. It had me going for a while, but as far as I can see, it is only confirming closure of Maya (of course the clever people may say differently)

I got a Covid lecture from my Doc this morning at my regular check up and B12 jab. How careful to be, where it came from, what to avoid. I certainly got the impression there is more to come. And then I told him I was going to Bkk tomorrow - lol! On his advice I am now driving instead of using the bus, which he regarded as a risk.

In the old normal, it was an absolute pleasure being in Bkk at Songkran. You virtually had the place to yourself, as long as you could cope with the local noodle shops being closed. It will be interesting to see how it is this year.

Only you can decide if to go to BK - for myself absolutely NO unless the reason was so important

Fair point. Some might say the same about Hua Hin.

I live a quiet life, apart from being tempted to pop into the Robin Hood for food, I don't drink, so no bars or clubs are on the agenda.

If it is as empty as previous Songkrans, it might be one of the safest places to be.

I've already mentioned this on the main news page. Basically I think anybody travelling from the affected areas need to scan the QR Code (takes you to PKK's COVID-19 screening system) and be prepared to quarantine for 14 days.

Hopefully the clever people can confirm.
