I've only lived here permanently for just over 2 years, but this is the most prolonged rain I have experienced. Every day I have been back washing the swimming pool which puts water down the drain, but even so, this morning our water level was a full tile (10cm) higher than it normally is and close to the top of the pool. Everywhere in the garden is sodden with pools of water all over the place, so hoping to get a letup in the rain soon!!

Don't backwash each time Dannie, just set the dial on "waste" and open the valve to the outside drain before you turn on the power. If you backwash to the drain each time the pool gets too full, you're wearing down the sand in your filter. The books say sand is only good for about 80-90 back washes before it should be replaced. Ah, the sound advice from somebody who knows much better than I do - all I knew was that doing the backwash puts the water down the drain, but I will now investigate your suggestion further - TVM

Just done it and no problems and with the rain continuing to fall, this was a very helpful tip - thanks Pete

Just took a walk around the ponds - the overflows are exploding, the fish are taking showers and loving it.

The radar I'm looking at Terry shows that you should have clear skies about half way through Petchaburi province. Bangkok looks totally clear at the moment. Pete
