My first impression of FN was a shop selling items to tourists for 'marked-up' prices. It sounds as though my first impression was totally wrong, and I definitely did not see any foodstuffs in there. I obviously didn't look closely enough. I won't make a special journey, but when I'm out that way, I will definitely call in to see what else I've missed.

I think, in all my years on this forum, it is the first time anybody has suggested FN for anything, Cheese is honestly the last thing I would have thought they sold.
I’m assuming the cheese will be on the left hand side as you approach from Phetkasem road - they used to have quite a wide range of food items, but now their range is much reduced although I’ve never noticed cheese before so could be interesting

FN is supposed to be one of the many 'Factory Outlets' where, in theory, you are buying direct from the factory!!

I've been through their webpage, and the only real clue is, "Selling cosmetics, household Products and imported snack from abroad." This is interesting to me because my daughter-in-law has had to start importing direct from the UK (you wouldn't believe the red tape) because Thai sources have run out of certain items - I will try to nip out today just in case they stock what she needs (current forecast delivery date 12 Nov).

Clutching at straws, but if I don't look, I won't know.

However, whilst it's a useful diversion for me, we are going well off the subject of Cheese in Hua Hin.

:offtopic:

I will report on what I find in the way of cheeses later today, assuming I get there.

Continuing my bad boy' theme (sorry Pet), before returning fully to subject, I have to say, my first impressions of FN about 7 years ago were so wrong. I think I was new to Thailand, and cringed at the almost UK prices. However, they have some good quality stuff in there, and something I've learnt over the last few years here is quality does cost more. It is now back on my mental consideration list for a few items when I need them.

:offtopic:

I made the short journey to FN, and as we came out of the airport tunnel, this billboard was in front of us - how promising:

Unfortunately, despite being impressed by many things at FN, and we walked around twice, we did not find any Cheese, in fact we could not find any food at all apart from in the cafes, and the market stalls outside.

[Edit] If you can't read the billboard, it says, "Best European Cheeses at FN"

The billboard does show a picture of a pizza so, perhaps, a pizza in the cafe with European cheeses??

It's good for linen shorts!

I was there about 3 weeks back and never saw any cheese, but then again, I wasn't looking. As has been said, good for household stuff and reduced price clothing.

I have never looked in any of the other places there apart from the tea place. That's pretty impressive if it's still open (the branch in Thonglor shut recently), far more so than the tea they actually have available!

I shouldn't promote NZ products, but the following is the only cheese that I sometimes buy:

I agree as I always buy the NZ Mainland cheeses particularly Vintage and Tasty Cheddar

Stopped in AP Foods yesterday, they have a very impressive selection of cheeses and are cheaper than Macro.

AP have some heavily discounted cheeses, it's worth liking them on FB for their promotions.

The Cheddar cheese name is used in a meaningless way, its name is not protected, it is a generic description and for most people it just means cheese.(the use of the name "West Country Farmhouse Cheddar" is protected). In addition to the United Kingdom, Cheddar cheese is also made in Australia, Argentina, Belgium, Canada, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa, Sweden, Finland and the United States. Cheddar can be an industrial or artisan cheese. The flavour, colour, and quality of industrial cheese varies significantly, and food packaging will usually indicate a strength, such as mild, medium, strong, tasty, sharp, extra sharp, mature, old, or vintage; this may indicate the maturation period.

Very good information, in fact it's a very common cheese, coming from everywhere.
I wanted to point out that beside Cheddar nobody mention another cheese available in this AP shop.
Better choice at Makro, BigC and VM.
