This archaic system seems to either reject the form on name/date/passport number, some other hidden field that the user cannot enter data into, or a compiler that can only accept one http derived database entry at any one time (I think they had those in the late 80s when databases first went online, long before mySQL/XML/JSON or anything even close to what we use today). As my previous observations from this thread stand - it has failed for more that it has succeeded for, therefore one can conclude that it is not a "front end/user" issue.
Ah buksi, I beat you by 6 years, been developing 26 years and still am. But I do get your drift. It's a shit site I know, I must have the luck of the Irish as used it for my last 2 90 dayers, got the error when I entered wrongly formatted data, altered that and all was well. Long may I only have to go there once a year. Take Care....

Well, the site is back up, but it might as well not be! Tried to enter the first line, the letter enters and then a timer stars running and it will not accept anymore inputs! :banghead:

I think it's slow because the form is full of onkeyup statements which call a function valChange2().

I didn't spend much time looking at this, but it seems to be used to validate the entire form.

So, every time you hit a key, your browser calls this function. Seems like they might use onsubmit and just validate all the fields in the form one time.

Thanks, that makes sense. I have tried it again several times, with the same result. I thought it may be the new browser that I am using with Windows 10. I have yet to find out how to open IE that is supposed to be installed, to try that.

I tried with Chrome's IE emulator on all recent versions and it still didn't work. :banghead:

Also tried in IE 8, 9 and 10 and guess what ... :banghead:

Has anybody been successful with this since buksi's miserable failure please? I've just tried 3 times and it won't let me past page 1.

I will keep trying, but it would be nice to know people have actually been successful in the last 90 days.

My wife and I managed it last week. Got the approval today. It no longer insists that you use Explorer, but neither of us could get past page one when using Safari or Chrome on a Mac. My wife tried Chrome on Windoze, but that also failed. She said it was quick and easy with I.E. on Windows.

I was able to check the status with Safari on a Mac and my wife was able to print the receipt from Safari on a Mac.

Tried it for my neighbour using IE and Chrome on his PC.

Nada.

I'm definitely going to try next time - this morning I got there early at 8.15 knowing it had been closed yesterday for holiday so would be busy today, but the numbers exceeded even my worst fears. Not helped by immigration staff arriving late, so by the time I got out it was just gone 9.30.

It doesn't help that the ticket machine is inside, so you cannot guarantee getting in the queue correctly, with latecomers trying to push their way ahead of those that arrived early.

Dannie - if you got there at 08.15 and out at 09.30 I would hardly call that time consuming.

Agree, my 90 day report takes at least half a day as the immigration office is 100km away!

To Steve and Buks - I guess it's all relative, but usually getting there at about the same time, I'm normally out before 9.00 am and on a number of occasions by 8.45, so whilst another 30-45 minutes is hardly an eternity, it was the fact that in my 4.1/2 years doing the same, this was the longest it had taken and the room was heaving - every seat taken, a number of people standing and some even outside, which I've never experienced before.

You have also got to weigh up how much time however many failed attempts you have will take before beating the stupid locking problem. I've had 7 failures so far, and you have to complete the 1st page of info every time before it locks you out.
