Fair enough MrB, downloaded the latest version of Winamp today and it seems to be a huge improvement on what it was last year or so ago.

OUTLOOK gone mad

Post by Terry »

I have Vista Ultimate running Microsoft Outlook for my email
This has worked fine for a couple of years now.

Suddenly with every new email I'm getting an additional download of the existing 100 or so!

Any ideas as to how I can stop this?

Check that you haven't left the "leave a copy on the server" option on - or the account hasn't been setup for IMAP instead of POP3.

It also maybe worth deleting the account and setting it up again (you won't lose any email).

Finally have a word with the hosting company, their mail servers maybe acting up.

I was just looking at media player addons from iZotope. Some of them look very interesting as they are stated to improve MP3 sound dramatically and make it sound more rich and full like good old analog music used to.

http://www.izotope.com/products/audio/media/ozone.html

They even have a free plugin that lets you make your MP3 music sound like vinyl. You can determine what type and age of turntable you want it to sound like and control how much scratch and pop noise comes through.

http://www.izotope.com/products/audio/vinyl/

Sounds fun and interesting for us aging audiophiles that are nostalgic for the sound of vinyl. Has anyone tried any of the products from this company?

File structures

I run Win7 on an HP laptop and have three remote hard discs (Terabyte each)

I do cross back ups (too many disasters in the past) one of the drives is FAT32 format the rest are NTFS as is my laptop hard drive.

For some reason I get certain files rejected when copying from NTFS to FAT32 as being too big although there is stacks of space on the drive

Firstly-----------any ideas?
Secondly-------can I change the FAT32 to NTFS without losing data? and if so how?

You will not be able to copy any file larger than 2.1Gb to a FAT32 system.

Yes you can convert but you'll lose all of the data so back it up first.

In a powerful wave of anticipatory man-drool, Windows 7 build 7600 has made its way to the file sharing services. What's interesting here is that the major jump in build revisions from the current 72xx builds suggests, but does not guarantee, that 7600 is the Release To Manufacturing (RTM) build rumored for a July 13th release (yes today) -- the same Windows 7 build that will be handed out by Microsoft to it partners in the run-up to Microsoft's October 22nd consumer launch. If it is the RTM build then we'd expect to hear some kind of announcement with the kickoff of Microsoft's Worldwide Partner conference

Bozz,

Even though subsequent posts, including your last one cleared things up a bit, the op could have been in Chinese as far as I'm concerned. Could you try to use a little punctuation and be a little clearer in an opening post of a thread, please?

Moved all this to the Digital Surgery thread as it made little sense to me either and doesn't warrant its own topic.
