If​ person​ over​ 60ys is sick​ or​ immobilized and can't​ come​ by themself, another​ person​ can​ register on​ their​ behalf.​ Need​ copy of​ passport​ and​ fill​ed registration​ form signed ​and​ this person​ can​ submit​ for​ them.​

This is the $64,000 dollar question. However I think there's reason for cautious optimism, since locally-produced test batches from Siam Bioscience have already passed quality assurance testing by AstraZeneca in the US & Europe and by the Department of Medical Sciences here in Thailand.

The fact is that currently, the EU and the US will only allow travelers who have been vaccinated with approved vaccines. Currently, neither of the Chinese vaccines have approval.
The EU regulator has said that they're about to assess the Chinese vaccines but expect it to take some time. Anyone vaccinated with Sinovac will be barred for the foreseeable.

On the other side of the coin, China bars anyone who is NOT vaccinated with Sinovac or Sinopharm

Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul confirmed on Tuesday that the locally produced AstraZeneca vaccine would be available for the masses from June 7

Anyone believing that should be sent to a corner with a pointed hat marked with a 'D'.

That means, along with many others, I'm sure, that my wife cannot visit the UK to see her daughters, which she was planning to do.

Why? Has she been vaccinated already? If not, surely, if offered the wrong vaccine, she just says no thank you, and waits for the right vaccine to become available privately. It doesn't seem a huge problem to me.

Mrs BB and I are already thinking along those lines.

No she hasn't been vaccinated for just that reason. After I've been vaccinated, I'll be the only one in my family that has. Moderna which is the vaccine of choice by the Private Hospitals Association don't expect supplies until October. Even then it's up to the government.

If she's going to the UK, can't she get vaccinated once there? Or is a vaccine a condition of travel?

I don't know. I've seen the vaccine holidays to the States, and I've read of people leaving Thailand to get vaccinated?

I’ve not read anywhere that you need to be vaccinated to enter the UK - you might have to quarantine, but that’s based on country of departure/transit.

I wasn't referring to the traffic light system. I know that Thailand is currently amber.
Hopefully, that's not going to last forever. My point was that as vaccinated people are allowed in Europe and the US, the Sinovac vaccine doesn't cut the mustard and will be discriminated against allowing only people with an approved vaccine. Currently, the Chinese vaccines don't fall in that category.

Yes that is why I sent the link which tells you all about the conditions needed to enter UK, and there is no need to be vaccinated, therefore Mrs HHTel Is allowed in UK and can visit her daughter if she wishes

Correct. Also a negative test 3 days before travelling. Book and pay for covid tests on day 2 and 8 of your stay. You will be checked daily to ensure you are observing quarantine rules. Quite a rigmarole. Plus, of course the mandatory state quarantine and tests before and after returning to Thailand.

At some point vaccinations will be advantageous entering the UK and other destinations. BUT the Sinovac vaccine currently is not approved or recognised so you will be treated as unvaccinated.
