Understudy, I think you will find C and A are a Dutch company, not German. We visited one of their stores in Nice recently, they have stores all over France, Belgium and even one in Barcelona.

According to Wikipedia (in German), C&A was founded by Clemens and August Brenninkmeijer in 1841 in the Netherlands. Today the headquarters are in Germany and Belgium. Denmark and U.K. were closed 1999.
The family Brenninkmeijer is the richest family of Europe with 15 to 25 billions (Milliarden) Euro.
