Hopefully, a little more relevant than 'I bought an aircon' and 'it rained yesterday'.

The BBC, arch-promoter of The Great AGW Swindle... or should that be 'Caper'?... finally concedes it isn't getting hotter...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-22567023

'Since 1998, there has been an unexplained "standstill" in the heating of the Earth's atmosphere.'

Bit of a bugger when you jump on a natural warming cycle and can't get your taxes and centralized control in place before it stops. Wonder what they are going to do now? Hair dryers on the sensors?

After nearly 2 decades of official and scientific 'bilge', stranded polar bears and traumatized toddlers, they know the world is not going to allow this con to continue any further. Hardly surprising when so many countries have been bankrupted. Smart move by the Brits and Aussies to get their carbon taxes in early. They'll hand them back, of course.. cough... cough.

Not to worry. History shows we are almost due for the 3rd iteration of Global Cooling'.

Some Warmies on here won't even have the consolation of religion. Oh. Hang on a minute. It WAS a religion.

Never mind, MrS. Chin up and have a cool one.

Not sure that we should all rejoice, the article simply states a slowing down in temperature rises rather than a reversal - quote:

"The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change reported in 2007 that the short-term temperature rise would most likely be 1-3C (1.8-5.4F).

But in this new analysis, by only including the temperatures from the last decade, the projected range would be 0.9-2.0C."

In a related report, it is stated:

"More than half of common plant species and a third of animals could see a serious decline in their habitat range because of climate change.

New research suggests that biodiversity around the globe will be significantly impacted if temperatures rise more than 2C."

This subject has no answer, for every claim there is a counter-claim, there are (approximately) as many experts who support global warming as those that ridicule it.

All I can say is that the climate seems less predictable and more diverse now than it was when I was a lad.

Not so. There is more to this article than you suggest. The most significant word in the whole piece is 'unexplained'.

They can't explain the pause, which tells you they don't, despite 15 years of 'Science', understand what the climate is doing.

Having conceded the pause, some of the pressure to adopt draconian measures is eased and you can bet the BRIC nations will act on that. I cannot see how the politicians can now go to their electorates and sign up to global Statist solutions. They will be forced to kick the can down the road.

If they would only deal with the polluting industries at source, they could ease the problem quickly. Threaten to lock up any CEO or board of directors that pollutes the environment and you'd have solutions on the table in a heartbeat. The fact that no corporate CEO goes to jail for any crime these days should tell you 'they' are not serious.

I did not have to read very much the headline was plenty
Climate slowdown means extreme rates of warming 'not as likely'
quote Mr P
finally concedes it isn't getting hotter...
NO they DONT

However i smell the odious smell of U Turn here after all the mainstream media are supposed to be part of a conspiracy and lie through their teeth and yet those that believe that are desperate enough to quote the mainstream media when they think it comes from the coolies prayer book (which it does not)

and yes Mr P i am as anti carbon tax as you are

“Scientists say the recent downturn in the rate of global warming will lead to lower temperature rises in the short-term.”

“The researchers say this will reduce predicted warming in the coming decades”

“But long-term, the expected temperature rises will not alter significantly

“But in this new analysis, by only including the temperatures from the last decade, the projected range would be 0.9-2.0C.”

“The authors calculate that over the coming decades global average temperatures will warm about 20% more slowly than expected. “

"We would expect a single decade to jump around a bit but the overall trend is independent of it, and people should be exactly as concerned as before about what climate change is doing," said Dr Otto.

Is there any succour in these findings for climate sceptics who say the slowdown over the past 14 years means the global warming is not real?
"None. No comfort whatsoever," he said
.
We can read into things what we want to see. However Global Warming is still predicted to continue, albeit at a slower rate than previously estimated. The climate is not predicted to cool

If we are taking a census.....I am also anti carbon tax

From the article:
"The authors calculate that over the coming decades global average temperatures will warm about 20% more slowly than expected."

80% warming is hardily saying it's stopped!

They haven't moved yet and the story is so weak, they have to bolster it with a fantasy. What about the mass migration out of the dust bowl during the 30s?

Remember this...

'Feared Migration Hasn't Happened: UN Embarrassed by Forecast on Climate Refugees'
http://www.spiegel.de/international/wor ... 57713.html

'Six years ago, the United Nations issued a dramatic warning that the world would have to cope with 50 million climate refugees by 2010. But now that those migration flows have failed to materialize, the UN has distanced itself from the forecasts. On the contrary, populations are growing in the regions that had been identified as environmental danger zones.'

Oops.

They'll be moving before long:

U.S. monitors: Carbon dioxide in atmosphere hits historic high

“The Earth has not experienced this level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere for about three million years, when global average temperature was two to three centigrade degrees higher than pre-industrial levels, the polar ice caps were much smaller and global sea level was about 20 meters (yards) higher than today,”

It's the accuracy of the predictions that's so impressive.

"Oh no! Quick! Into the shelters!"

...Funny. I seem to be able to breathe okay. Anyone having trouble? Blocked nose. On hands and knees to get to the clean air?

I know I'm a pain but come on. This has all been done before. Remember the Hole in The Ozone Layer? I particularly enjoyed this cracker from Saint Al...

'Al Gore's book, Earth in the Balance, stated that "in Patagonia, hunters now report finding blind rabbits; fishermen catch blind salmon" (Gore, 1992). A group at Johns Hopkins has investigated the evidence and attributed the cases of sheep blindness to a local infection ("pink eye") (Pearce, 1993).'

Pink eye, eh? :sun:

Just a talking point but the tornado in oklahoma

all tornados are formed when cold air meets warm air

question 1 could it be that if the cold air is warmer than normal and the warm air is warmer than normal the tornado spins faster/is bigger than normal

question 2 could it be that just the warmer air is warmer ie the difference in temperature between the 2 air masses is greater than normal and therefore the tornado is bigger and faster
