Re: Premier League 2010-2011
In the week, Keegan said the bottom line is that Liverpools squad hasn't been good enough for a few years, apart for their recent nearly men finish. I remember scouse fans complaining Benitez was a cup, rather than league manager.
Lawrie Sanchez, who scored the winner when Liverpool lost to the mighty Wimbledon is the 88 cup final (Dalgliesh was manager) went further, saying Liverpool fans should wake up and smell the roses, that they are no longer a big club, having never won the premiership and just got lucky on a midweek night in Istanbul a few years ago - I think he said all that with a twinkle in his eye.
Be interesting to see who Liverpool settle on? I think Owen Coyle would be a good bet to me. Definitely a rising star, seems to me thats what the scousers need, rather than an 'established' manager from abroad, I don't think they would want to be stung again.

Lawrie Sanchez, a football mastermind if ever there was one. Have you seen the state of the guy? Trying to to get his 5 minutes by saying Liverpool aren't a big club. The guy is only well known because he scored a flukey goal against "not a big club"!
Keegan, bless him, we've not been good enough for a few years? My memory must be playing up then.
Can't remember being "stung" by a recent foreign manager either, more the English buffoon.

Re: Premier League 2010-2011
Glen Johnson has hit back at Paul Merson after he publicly criticised the Liverpool defender's attitude this season.
Former Arsenal midfielder Merson made the comments during a discussion about Roy Hodgson's departure as Reds manager on Sky Sports' Soccer Saturday programme, and questioned Johnson's performance during the current campaign.
Ahead of his side's FA Cup third round clash with Manchester United tomorrow, Johnson, 26, hit back at the pundit via his personal Twitter account with a scathing attack which cited Merson's previously well-documented personal troubles.
He said: "Comments from alcoholic drug abusers are not really gonna upset me and who is Paul Merson to judge players, he was average at the best of times..
"The only reason he's on that show is coz he gambled all his money away. The clown!"
The comments have since been deleted following intense criticism from users of the social networking site to Johnson's attack.

Come on BaaBaa, Johnsons performance this season has been widely criticised, not just by Merson.
He should do a Bale and switch to further up the pitch, thats where his skills lie.
He went from West Ham to Chelsea, always great going forward, but defensively? Mourinho sent him on loan to Pompey (I believe), where he got rave reviews, he came back to the Bridge and was given the opportunity as 1st choice right back, it soon went pear shaped, was left out and never played again, made a permanent move south and then the scousers bought him - nothing has changed and it never will.
But then, you could add many names to under - performing. Now I know my team are struggling, but its not in the same way.
I think Dalgliesh will offer a temporary respite, I might even have a bet on the Poo beating the Manc's tomorrow, but he's not a long term solution.
We have agreed to differ on Rafa and best leave that there.

I'm not denying Johnson has underperformed, you've got to admit his reply to Merson is class though.
These idiots talk far to much without response.
Merson still lives at home with his Mum BTW, just saying.

Its terrible timing getting rid of Hodgson just before the FA Cup tie with United.
Liverpool will be all fired up,under Dalglish, for this game now.....makes me nervous !
Just have to hope Uniteds defence isnt Kusczak,Neville,O'Shea,Evans and De Laet !
Roy Hodgson,a decent guy but out of his depth at Liverpool....should never have left Fulham.

Re: Premier League 2010-2011
So what happens now if 'King Kenny' does shit at Liverpool.... will the fans be chanting someone elses name also. I bet Hodgsens damn pleased to be rid of the scousers. It's not exactly like he took over when they were doing well and brought them down.... he took over when they were doing shite (bottom of the league!!) and brought them up, granted only a little, but up is still up. I hope to god Kenny does shite just to shut up the scousers. I used to like Liverpool but the way the fans have treated Hodgsen just sucks really. He did better than Benetiz this season... that plonker had you in last place!!
If it's within arms reach, there's nothing to worry about!!
Re: Premier League 2010-2011
What are you on about? This just shows how truly clueless you are.E-Dork wrote:It's not exactly like he took over when they were doing well and brought them down.... he took over when they were doing shite (bottom of the league!!) and brought them up, granted only a little, but up is still up.
I don't think Benitez left Inter in 12th either, and he won 2 trophies, something Roy knows nothing about.
We're glad to be rid and wish he would also take his shite Konchesky and Poulsen with him.
Only on planet E-Dork, Benitez left before the start of the season and if you knew what you were on about you'd know that Benitez has never, ever performed as poorly as Hodgson.E-Dork wrote: He did better than Benetiz this season... that plonker had you in last place!!

Re: Premier League 2010-2011
With so many foreigners in the team now will they be able to understand Kenny`s English accent?
Re: Premier League 2010-2011
English? Kenny?Arcadian wrote:With so many foreigners in the team now will they be able to understand Kenny`s English accent?

I'd say that Liverpool have 10 times more English players on the books than Arsenal. About 5 of the the starting 11 is English, do you know who Gerrard, Carragher, Johnson, Cole and Konchesky are?
An Arsenal fan talking about foreign players.

Re: Premier League 2010-2011
Just chill Baa Baa, does Kenny speak English or not? We are not discussing Arsenal here nor the number of foreign players they have. Even lighthearted comments about your team seem to receive a mass of boring statistics designed to show us how wonderful Liverpool are (were). Why can`t you just accept that Liverpool have seen their best days and will probably take a long time to restore themselves to their former glory. Time will tell if "King" Kenny is the man to do it. Meanwhile get a life.
Re: Premier League 2010-2011
You said "English accent"
You were incorrect and I'm sure you'd pull me up if I spoke of John Terrys welsh accent.
Who cares, it's a good day, Hodgson is off back down south.
