Maybe the sceptics will wake up when a bowl of rice and TOFU costs 20$
I doubt it mate. They will probably blame it on some grand international cabal of evil crypto-socialist NWO oppressors working hand in hand with a conspiracy of "Dr Evil" scientists who want us under their control, eating babies, worshiping owls etc etc.

I told you mate... these are Black Knights* we are trying to reason with.

* The phrase Black Knight to describe these people was coined in an edition of Science by US scientists working for the NCSE who had to deal with the evolution and climate change denial political lobbies.

Our own Homer is a prime example of the Black Knight mentality.....chop....tis but a scratch.

As Cowboy Rick Perry would say.... OOOPS!

Bombshell: Koch funded study finds global warming is real, due to carbon pollution
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/07/2 ... -pollution

In other news, sales of CIA approved redactive black marker pens have sky rocketed in the immediate vicinity of Koch Brothers offices around the globe.

This statement by Prof Richard Muller the lead scientist for the Berkeley project.
When we began our study, we felt that skeptics had raised legitimate issues, and we didn't know what we'd find. Our results turned out to be close to those published by prior groups...Global warming is real. Perhaps our results will help cool this portion of the climate debate. How much of the warming is due to humans and what will be the likely effects? We made no independent assessment of that.”
So how exactly did we arrive at the conclusion that it is due to carbon pollution :? :? :? :|

I've read the reports from the BEST study.
It provided nothing new, which isn't surprising considering they used the same raw data as the previous studies

Maybe the fanatical faithful will wake up when it costs $40 and carbon taxes hit all forms of transport, stop development in third world countries, causing millions of deaths from poverty and carbon cops are fining or arresting us for using a toaster and having our wheelie-bins in the wrong place. They may also wake up when they realize that the schemes for halting or reversing the STILL unproven 'man-made' warming, are designed to enrich the few at the expense of the many and distract from the more pressing issues facing mankind, like wars, disease and the movement of wealth from the poor to the rich.

Let's criminalize the masses, while allowing the major polluters (the real criminals) to continue destroying the planet by exchanging their pollution with rain-forests in Borneo and Guatemala.

The carbonazis, who don't even know their own carbon footpint and haven't changed their lifestyles one jot, will swallow any old rot as long as it's wrapped in fluffy 'We are saving the environment' packaging. These 'carbon units' are scratching their heads trying to work out the carbon cost of wearing Crocs or flip-flops.

The public are no longer buying it and the response from the faithful? 'Rend their garments'.

That's what getting religion does for you. :naughty:

I agree Mr P carbon taxes are shear BS they will increase the price of food and only be paid for by the poor who are the people who after the food prices hit are the least able to pay them so
:thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

however having made a very telling and insightfull analysis you spoil it by

a.- going over the top
b.- by stating something that is NOT happening when it patently IS. the people are buying it because they can see and feel the climate is changing plus food prices are going up and up and their numbers are growing

By making a statement totally opposite to what you say ie global warming is NOT Happening
but say in this post it IS
Let's criminalize the masses, while allowing the major polluters (the real criminals) to continue destroying the planet
so which is it you cannot have it both ways

Svante Arrhenius had worked that out by about 1896!

now this one is interesting - discusses the links between climate change and ozone layer depletion.

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/20 ... 142204.htm

Am I right in thinking that, setting aside drought/storm etc from CC, increased levels of UV radiation could seriously screw up crops all on its own?

If so thats a serious risk to US agriculture.
