The President of the Private Hospital Association has agreement to sell Moderna vaccines in 2,000฿ a shot for anyone who can afford it for all private hospital in Thailand. For this price is covered vaccine cost, medicine cost and insurance of vaccine injection as well.
A couple of years ago I paid about 1,000bt a shot for Rabies jabs in a private Thai hospital so 2,000bt for Covid
doesn´t seem that excessive.
The actual cost of a dose of Moderna vaccine from the manufacturer in the US is about $34.

If the Moderna shots are only 2K, Thais will be flocking to get them as they generally don't want/trust Sinovac either. So farangs will be at the bottom of the list again.

Firstly, they need the government to buy the vaccine on their behalf. Vaccine manufacturers will only deal with governments. The government has implied that they'll use a government dept to assist in the private purchase of vaccine.
Will be interesting to see if the Government want to buy then (another brand too) when they are about to start their own production?

It says one vaccination centre will be in Bangkok. It doesn't say there will be only one vaccination centre.
It could be read 2 ways, although I agree it doesn't say 'a lot'. However, the man who usually does the brief and the quotes are attributed to didn't actually do the brief today. It was the young lady who stands in for him. If we believe her, things are looking a lot brighter for the Farang community. We just have to be patient, and we will be included in phase 2.
I actually said to family as I was battling with registration last weekend that the system needs an upgrade to cater for Farangs. She said as much today.
Listening to today's brief, I think I was reading it the right way. There 'may' be other centres, but they have to ensure pre-jab interviews can be successfully conducted in English, which is why we will be directed to Farang centres for out jabs.

One other thing that is sort of at the back of my mind. Certainly hhinner and myself thought we had registered with our pink ID cards, and there are many others around the country. Some even posted their vaccine appointments on social media. When they've sorted the registration process, will we have to register again, or will we just wait for a phone call? I'd hope they would tell us when the time comes, but TIT.

Can the govt. do anything right, ever? Do they swallow confusion pills to start the day? Were they born stupid or did they learn to be that way? This is the most f'cked up country I've ever lived in and I've lived in 8.

I'm sure that most of you 'savvy' foreigners, who have been in the kingdom for a while, will be able to find an 'accommodating' vaccine supplier! As you know, the sight of a few 'brown notes' is, often, irresistable.
They're now suggesting a third jab in the UK before next winter for the over 5O's

.
Of course you can get a jab, I was offered it in Indonesia, however with no certificate, as such if you want to travel you are considered unvaccinated.

How cheap? Do they at least have real vodka or tequila?

If it's for herd immunity maybe it's available on Cowsan Rd.

The most encouraging stat there is that Sinovac is dropping out of the equation.

I'm not getting that excited just yet as it is only a vision at this stage and not reality.
Harold Wilson famously said, "A week is a long time in politics." Well, here in Thailand one hour is a lifetime in politics.
I hate to be that glass half empty guy but recent events are really wearing me thin.

As I wrote previously in one of these threads, I came to Thailand expecting nothing, so if by chance a Covid vaccine does become available, then that’s an unexpected positive!!
