Coronavirus Precautions/News/Updates for Hua Hin/Prachuap
Re: Coronavirus Precautions - Hua Hin/Thailand
Really!! Restrictions were only put in place on the 18th March when they saw a rise in cases (as reported). Once again, acting after the fact despite plenty of information from around the world which were completely ignored. Now attempting to flatten the curve when the curve isn't even known.
Huge 'thumbs up' when the increase in number of cases drops, for ONE day, that being a bank holiday. Not suggesting that has anything to do with it, just saying. Let's see how the rest of the week go. But of course the rise in cases is going to be low. WHY? --- NO F'ING TESTING!

Well, for what it's worth. my nephew, a GP was self-isolating, because all three of his kids had symptoms - all okay now. Another nephews wife is a surgeon at Great Ormond Street, but mucking in on the virus and tested positive after the event so to speak. My nephew had it mildly, did lose taste and smell but now fine. Their kids all showed symptoms. A friends elderly mum is in hospital with the virus, but doing okay/ My friends husband and daughter both had mild symptoms.
Here, I think the Govt. got lucky or is lying. Simple as that. All actions they took were really too late and badly managed, spreading the infections to all corners of the Kingdom. It is known heat and UV rays affect the longevity of the virus. Plenty of that where we are. Where I do think they are good, is in tracking and tracing and then placing people in quarantine.

Hua Hin hospital begins testing tomorrow. 3500-5000 per test. Results available following day.
Re: Coronavirus Precautions - Hua Hin/Thailand
I'm sure the Thai population will form great queues (with social distancing) to hand over their money for a test!
Re: Coronavirus Precautions - Hua Hin/Thailand
Just looking at the stats today.
Yesterday, according to worldometers, Thailand had done just 25,000 tests. (I reported it at the time).
Today, those same stats report that 71,860 tests have been done. An increase of more than 46,000 in 24 hours!!!!
In that same period, the UK have carried out just under 17,000 tests.
Cases added since April 1st, - 120, 104, 103, 89, 102, 51, 38.
I'd really like to believe those numbers!!

No access to Saun Son area via the road guard point near PTT petrol station, (guard has notice "Closed By order of Government"), anyone know if there is still access to the beach from ferry terminal or is the whole beach out of bounds now?
Re: Coronavirus Precautions - Hua Hin/Thailand
Prachuab province is locked down as far as entering or leaving.
The beaches, afaik are not closed. However, I doubt whether you'll get to Suan Son as the military base will probably close off that part of the beach.

Re: Coronavirus Precautions - Hua Hin/Thailand
The latter is more likely, Thailand was one of the last countries to close its borders, were still letting Chinese tourists in during February (their highest infection month), let a bunch of infected Thai workers back from Korea out of the airport without testing them, and has allowed all of Bangkok to return up-country, also without tests. Additionally it has copied China by censoring any media that reports anything opposing state mouthpieces while whipping up an atmosphere of fear and xenophobia blaming those that it was so happy to take money off just a few months earlier.
What has happened here is shambolic which is why those figures are not worth the pixels on the screen.
Is the junta trying to say that within 18 hours (minus the curfew times) Thais have spent 180 million baht collectively on tests (taking HH hospitals prices as an average)?
I think they're using TAT to provide their Covid-19 stats.

Re: Coronavirus Precautions - Hua Hin/Thailand
Is it genuinely a complete lock down from entering - we live just inside Petchaburi province but regularly travel into Hua Hin which crosses the border. We are meant to be going to the AA office soon to complete some paperwork for an insurance policy - is that now completely out of the question?
Re: Coronavirus Precautions - Hua Hin/Thailand
In the south we can cross into Chumphon province without issue so I doubt the provincial borders are closed - there will just be a checkpoint there asking where you are going and checking you have a mask on.

The announcement, included on the Thailand Tourism Authority website, says there are now screening measures at all points of entry and exit to the province.

All incoming boats are banned from docking in the province, except for emergency reasons. Fishing boats must receive a permit from the local district head.
Re: Coronavirus Precautions - Hua Hin/Thailand
If we are locked down, just cross the border at meal times. I've been through 2 of these check points now, both at meal times. All noses were in the trough, with absolutely no interest in checking anything. FFS as a 5 year old, I learnt about 2 sittings.

New cases for yesterday are 111 - BUT and this could not be made up :
Yesterday morning a charter flight from Indonesia was to carry Thai 75 passengers but 8 failed the test before boarding. When the plane landed the 67 were sent for 14 day quarantine but last night 42 tested positive and are included in the 111
