Locations that serve a "good" American / English breakfast.

Restaurants, food, beverage, hawkers, and local markets and suppliers. This is the place for discussion on Hua Hin's culinary options.

I've tried the new Nits breakfast today (before my friend gets to town).

Prices were quite reasonable, although with 4 of us at the table, it was a bit cramped - especially when you are 6'5"+a peanut tall. The corner piece digging into my right leg became quite painful after a while. My son & I both ordered the breakfast, whilst our wives ordered Thai food.

Drinks and toast were served first:

I was disappointed with the mini-coffee. As with B&B I would not order more at that size.

Breakfast arrived, and it was quite substantial:

Sausage, although very big, did disappoint me taste wise. There was a strange flavour, which I did not like. However, my son loved it. The bacon was the tastiest bacon I've had in over a year. Most bacon these days seems quite bland as if it hasn't been cured long enough. Nit's bacon was very special in it's flavour. I had actually thought there was a problem with my taste buds until today.

Our wives said the Thai food was plentiful, and very nice at just 100฿/dish, which encouraged them to order even more.

The favourite part of the visit for me was we had a Monitor Lizard running around our feet - I do enjoy seeing Monitor Lizards, so it was a bit special for me.

I don't drink coffee but the mug for the tea is a very large, the largest in HH I've been to and almost anywhere in truth

Maybe she will give you coffee in one of those if you were a regular??

As previously stated the fried bread is highly recommended(by me!)..... not to be missed.

For the same price and virtually the same size breakfast, the breakfast at cafe 99 includes a large cafetiere of decent coffee.

IMHO not a big difference between Nits and cafe 99. Except at Nits I have the very large mug of tea and at cafe 99 i have the coffee.

Oh, and cafe 99 opens at 7am and Nits opens at 8am. Which sometimes is important.

That reminds me of the old Jasper Carrot sketch about the restaurant in China," don't point at the dog!".

I had what must be the worst breakfast in Hua Hin area yesterday. Additionally at 430฿ it was probably the worst value. I won't name and shame for fear of defamation laws. It was most definitely not my kind of food but some may actually love it. In fact the place came highly recommended.

From the outset, I was put off by having a flower floating in my baked beans and another on my scrambled egg.

In fairness, the sausages were very nice, and the bacon was well tasty. Unfortunately, the tasty bacon was countered by 3 unnecessary slices of plastic ham. I'm not used to raw carrot and cold brockley with my breakfast, and my plate was taken away before I had chance to sample the pineapple.

Most definitely not my kind of food, and not cheap either. At least I've tried it, and found another nice sausage.

Not the best photo either (I was concentrating on the flowers) - sorry

Hideous.

Food that expensive and mucked around with must be in a hotel?

PS: broccoli, Brockley was the area I used to live in once long ago in London. :)

You'll always pay a premium in a hotel. I certainly couldn't afford a HOLIDAY at any INN in Hua Hin!!!

The bangers, in particular, look very tasty, but the garnishing is weird and unnecessary.
... my plate was taken away before I had chance to sample the pineapple.
That's your lookout, BB! Someone would have got their hand slapped if they tried to take my plate before I was finished!
The fruit would be better on a separate plate.

As I said, I won't name and shame, but it wasn't a hotel. I'm sure some people would gladly pay extra to have a dandelion swimming in their baked beans.

I was enjoying my bread and jam, and the fact it was on a side plate, and didn't notice my pineapple being stolen. :cuss:

Yes, hence I always call it 'plastic' ham.

BB,

As you are a sausage fiend then you may care to know that last week(after your visit I'm almost certain) Khun Nit changed her sausages!!

They are larger than the previous ones and I can honestly say it was the most delicious sausage I've tasted in 10 years!

But, to give a fair and balanced view, she told me that no fewer than 4 of her customers had expressed a preference for the previous variety. And she had to tell them unfortunately those were no longer available from her supplier.

Just goes to show how sausages are a very personal taste. I loved them.

Be interested to hear your views if so inclined

I would guess I had the new variety when I visited, and didn't really like them. My son, on the other hand loved the sausage. I think we'll be visiting again soon as our friend who liked the old Nits is town. I will confirm then.

In addition to being a rip-off, it's up there as being the worst presented plate of food yet seen on this thread!
